The B-Ark / What's Happened To Stalybridge ?
« on: January 30, 2012, 10:31:19 PM »
Has our difficult 'run-in' just become a little easier ?

I see that Stalybridge haven't won a league game since they beat us at the start of December and and have also let in 15 goals in their last 4 league games.

The B-Ark / Jason Lee - As a Player
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:41:37 PM »
He isn't actually very effective - unless getting on to headers in the opposition six yard box.

I'm sure he is a lovely chap and I know he seems desperate to play but if you analyse his performances then he adds very little to the team as a whole. He rarely creates chances out of nothing, he doesn't run at defenders, he doesn't actually hold the ball up that well for a big man and his flick-ons rarely find a Boston player - and when they do it's never in a goalscoring situation. And he's been getting in quite a few tangles with his opponents recenty which does nothing to help the team.

I think it's now time for him to concentrate on managing. If he sat up in the stand for a game then he might just get a different perspective on what is happening across the team. The only time he should be used is if we are chasing a game and we need some height in the box for the last ten minutes - or perhaps as an emergency centre half.

The B-Ark / Friendly v Quorn (17th Jan)

Let's hope the managers use the session to try and help us get back on track. Treat it as an up-tempo training session. No player allowed more than three touches and the ball not above head height.

The B-Ark / Eastwood Town Game - NYD
« on: January 01, 2012, 09:01:01 PM »
Good fighting spirit to get back into the game but we let ourselves down again and had a mountain to climb by giving away silly goals.

Having taken particular note of the defence over the last couple of months, I can't help but think that we need a new right back. I know Jordan Fairclough is only a young lad but he gets caught out of position too often for my liking and this has cost us goals (on at least three occasions in the last 5 games).

On a positive note, good to see Newsham continue with his goalscoring form.

Very big game for us. If we can win convincingly in front of a bigger than average crowd (hopefully) then it may set us up for a play-offs push for the second half of the season. Lose and we may well be in for a difficult run-in in front of dwindling attendances.

The B-Ark / Leading Goalscorer ?
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:08:41 PM »
I know we've scored the fewest goals at Home out of all the teams in the Blue Square North, but does it tell you anywhere on the official site who our top scorer is so far this season ?

Thanks

The B-Ark / Are We Missing Stones ?
« on: December 16, 2011, 01:24:21 PM »
Are we missing Mickey Stones ?  He gave us options up front we don't currently have.

Sometimes you don't realise you miss someone until they are gone.

The B-Ark / FA Trophy - This Saturday
« on: December 08, 2011, 11:18:18 AM »
So, it's the next round on Saturday and Boston entertain high-flyers, Hyde Utd.

Will the crowds come out in force ? My thoughts are that in the midst of our current form and the fact that it's the run up to Christmas, we may see another 750 gate.

The question is; if gate prices were halved for the match, would we many more spectators or would the gate remain about the same and the Club therefore lose out by having collected less revenue ?

The B-Ark / Ten Points Off The Play-Offs
« on: December 06, 2011, 10:18:15 PM »
Not looking too good for our play-off prospects after tonights results. We really need to win the next two games against Corby and Guiseley to stay in contention.

I think we are missing a Weir-Daley type up front. He had the ability to create chances out of nothing and we don't have that at the moment. BSN defences tend to be well organised and generally deal quite easily with the standard ball into the box / high crosses. At the moment we are reasonably solid but a little too predictable and our league position reflects that.

Spotted supporter Monty at Gainsborough. Think it was his first game for about 10 years. What a lucky omen ! All I can say is, get your season ticket and get down York Street - your club needs you. Just don't get your pro Evans sheets out :)

From the Lynn News:

BREAKING NEWS - Former Linnets majority shareholder convincted of attacking former girlfriend in nightclub
Published on Tuesday 8 November 2011 16:10

A LEADING figure in the now defunct King’s Lynn FC is behind bars today after he was convicted of wounding a former girlfriend in a nightclub incident.

Michael Chinn, 37, a former majority shareholder and an ex-director of the club, had denied wounding Meghan Davis during an incident at the Loaded night club in Spalding, but was found guilty by a jury at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday, Monday, following a trial.

However, the businessman was cleared of wounding Miss Davis’ friend, Cheri-Leigh Lincoln on the directions of judge Sean Morris, after the jury heard there was no evidence to show who threw an object which left her with a cut to the head.

Chinn, of Old Fendike Road, Weston Hills, Spalding, was remanded in custody as judge Sean Morris adjourned sentencing to a date yet to be fixed for the preparation of a probation report.

Miss Davis, who said she had previously dated Chinn, had earlier told the jury she was with friends including Miss Lincoln in the Loaded nightclub in Spalding on October 1 last year when there was “a commotion” around the bar area which resulted in Chinn being led away by his private security staff.

She said “I heard a commotion and the next thing I knew a glass was coming through the air towards me. It hit me on the head.

“I was bleeding quite heavily. The glass was thrown. I saw it being thrown by Michael Chinn. I saw his hand going back and the action of throwing.”

Miss Davis was helped from the bar area and later taken to hospital along with Miss Lincoln who was left with blood pouring from her head after being struck with an object. Miss Lincoln said she did not see who threw the item nor did she realise she had been hit until she felt blood.

In evidence Chinn said Miss Davis’ brother Michael had been “mouthing off” at him during the evening and as a result his personal security staff moved him (Chinn) away.

He said “I was walking off then a load of liquid went over my back and my shirt got soaked. I reacted and gestured but then my guys just grabbed hold of me and took me to the doors.

“I was pulled out of a bad situation. I didn’t throw anything. Not a bottle, not a tumbler, not a thing. I know I didn’t throw anything so I’ve got nothing to prove.”

Chinn also told the jury he took his private security staff with him whenever he went out because he had been targeted.

He said: “I own several companies. They turnover £30 million a year. It causes a few problems. I’ve been spat at and targeted so that’s why I have to have security.”

The B-Ark / Unsavoury Boston Utd Fan At Solihull
« on: November 07, 2011, 09:39:42 PM »
At Solihull on Saturday I had the misfortune to be standing in the vicinity of a Boston Utd supporter who made me ashamed to be associated with someone that wears a replica Boston Utd shirt.

I don't know the persons name but he was short, about 5ft 6, very overweight and was wearing a white, long-sleeved Boston Utd shirt. I've seen him at away games before but have never spoken to him.

During the second half he stood next to the Boston dug-out and constantly hurled abuse at the players and officials. This included Lee Canoville. At one point I heard him use at least eight swear words in one sentence, before preceeding to shout 'nig-nog' at the Japanese ref. All of this was in ear-shot of the Boston United bench. At one point the Boston physio spoke to him to try and calm him down but god knows what some of the others thought. I just hope they don't think all Boston fans are like him.

I don't know the 'supporter's' name but I am sure he is known to regular travelling fans. If any steward / police had been in the vicinity there is no way he would have been allowed to stay in the ground.

It was a rubbish game on Saturday and we hardly created a chance but I don't really mind as that's football. If we won every week we would be in the Premier League (providing we had an all-seater stadium).

The B-Ark / What's Happened to HYDE ?

Two defeats in a row. Anyone know if they have lost players or has their bubble just burst ? Another defeat and fans will probably be calling for the manager's head.
