Eastwood Town - Boxing Day
« on: December 25, 2011, 10:54:16 PM »
Very big game for us. If we can win convincingly in front of a bigger than average crowd (hopefully) then it may set us up for a play-offs push for the second half of the season. Lose and we may well be in for a difficult run-in in front of dwindling attendances.

maybe nothing to moan about  shorty2uk :)
surely there must be??? attendance?, fitness coach?, bad defending?, it was only Eastwood?
fwiw
i thought we played very well today. OK not every pass was perfect, not every shot was on target, but should we expect them to be?The movement was good, there seemed effort and desire there.
Great to Newsh get a goal, he worked really hard today.
Sleathy was tireless yet again.
Well done team for showing character and coming back.

Newsham is really coming into form, given a run in the side in his natural position he is slowly turning his season round. Great all round game and goal against Guiseley, and today he was superb again.

Some of the best pass and move I've seen us play.  The trio in midfield ran them all over in the first half.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

A poor first goal to give away - how was Franny allowed to turn and get a shot it? 2nd goal was a great striker - can't do much about them.

Such a positive that even at 2-0 down, we didn't resort to hoofing the ball up to Big Jase, and expect him to do something with it. The 3 men in central midfield allow us to be very fluid in the midfield - how many times did one of them look up, see nothing on, and pass to another midfielder for him to have a go.

Kirk ran at the full backs as normal - he has the potential to be better than Yates. Sleath's goal was well placed, and the tactic to have Newsham stand in front of the keeper at corner (and not move, therefore not fouling) allowed Ward to nod in.

The two quick goals killed Eastwood off, but then the game went a bit drab. Contantine hardly touched the ball having come on, and better decision-making from Newsh when through on goal (albeit wide of goal) could have seen us score a couple more.

Gotta be confident of 3 points next Sunday.

A good performance. The first time we have scored four goals all season I think.

Indeed it is - and we had a defender, midfielder and 2 strikers score.
