The B-Ark / Bradford Park Avenue - A Tough Un
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:40:19 AM »
I don't expect an easy game for the Pilgrims tonight. BPA lost their first two games but have not lost since and have recently beaten Telford and drew against the unbeaten Solihull on Saturday. Won't be too disheartened if it's a draw, especially as we are yet to beat anyone in the top 14 places in the league this season.

Admiration is growing for the management team, however, particularly after Saturday when they realised things weren't really working and changed things around with a positive outcome. Would like to see us stick with three up front as if BPA do have a weakness, it looks like it's in their defence as no team in the league has conceded more goals than they have.

The B-Ark / Gloucester - Must Keep The Momentum Going
« on: September 20, 2013, 01:58:10 PM »
Need to dig out a result tomorrow to keep up with the pack. Remember going to this fixture last season - which I think turned out to be Jason Lee's last game.

Gloucester can be a tricky side and capable of beating anyone in the league on their day. Having said that, we have enough quality to get all three points and that should be the case. We need to anyway as I don't particularly like their coach - Neil Mustoe.

The B-Ark / Ricky Miller
« on: September 16, 2013, 08:05:15 AM »
I think he has had a really good start to the season and has probably exceeded a lot of fans expectations. I seem to remember one or two less than favourable comments when it was announced that he had signed in the summer - one even suggested he would rather see Steve Evans come back.

Whilst Newsham is more the goal poacher, I think Miller is the most enterprising of our forward line and I think we should build the team around him. A couple of times this season I've noticed him seeming a little frustrated when things haven't quite come off for him. The thing is, how do we get the best out of him? I'm not sure if getting a big centre-forward in would help. It may be that things are as good as they are going to get and we should just be happy with that? Would be a shame if we either lost the momentum we have created or didn't capitalise on it if that is the right thing to do.

The B-Ark / Saturday v BPA - Game On ?
« on: March 21, 2013, 03:56:41 PM »
I see heavy snow is forecast for Saturday morning in Boston. Game may be in doubt ? BBC forecasts have a tendency to be inaccurate if more than a day ahead so I'm hoping it doesn't materialise.

The B-Ark / Colwyn Bay Today
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:48:49 PM »
Although up against a poor side, I thought Boston played far better today than they did in midweek. Some nice football played in the middle of the park and the addition of Foster seemed to bolster the midfield.

Things went a bit ragged in the second half and Colwyn Bay dragged Boston into a more physical game but a much more pleasing performance overall and I feel better about the remainder of the season than I did after the Harrogate game. Play offs here we come  :)

The B-Ark / GD - 2 Questions

Did GD play football at a reasonable level ? If so, what clubs ?

Also, exactly how tall is he ?

Thanks

The B-Ark / Half Season Tickets
« on: December 10, 2012, 01:23:45 PM »
I see these are now available for the final 11 home matches of the season.

At £135 for an adult Fantasy Island ticket, I don't think these represent very good value for money (£12.27 per game as opposed to £14), considering we don't really have anything to play for.

I'm not quite sure how the BUFC Marketing team have convinced themselves that this will be a winner.

The B-Ark / Sign Jason Lee ?
« on: December 10, 2012, 01:11:41 PM »
What about signing a big tall centre-forward that isn't afraid to put his elbows about ? Someone who regularly scored goals in the BSN during the last two seasons and could galvanise our forward line and maybe also fill-in as an emergency centre-half ?

Let's consider persuading Jason Lee to sign as a player. Even if he only came on for the last ten minutes when we switch to long-ball tactics.

Good to see Mr Evans on the wrong end of a five nil defeat today against Dagenham. No surprise he isn't too popular amongst Millers fans - some are even calling for the head of the chief scout  ;D

The B-Ark / Truro City
« on: November 06, 2012, 11:20:17 AM »
<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20203414"</a>

Worth reading the article on the BBC site about the state of this Blue Square South Club as similarities exist or have existed with ourselves. A striking example of competing beyond your means. A wage bill of £25k per month and an average gate of just 330 !

One of the main reasons why Cornwall has never had a football league club - hamstrung by the geographical location. Although Boston isn't as remote, it is often an over-looked factor and must be given due consideration when considering our progress.

Truro have survived for now but I think it will be difficult for them to sustain the level they are currently at.

The B-Ark / Premier League / Racism
« on: October 29, 2012, 08:04:19 AM »
I never watched the Chelsea v Man Utd game yesterday but looking at the headlines on BBC Sport this morning I see Chelsea are accusing the referee of making racist comments towards their players.

It seems that this sort of thing is happening every week - and the allegations are usually from those on the losing side.

It is getting a bit tedious now and reinforces my desire to watch lower league football. It's got to the stage where if the allegations are true then that's just wrong - and if they aren't then where is it all going to stop ? After every weekend there are going to be inquiries galore.
