The B-Ark / Re: Away fans seating
« on: December 10, 2021, 10:06:14 AM »
To be honest I've got no idea why we a) enforce segregation and b) ban beer from being taken out of the concourse. All a bit unnecessary.

And yes if we're adamant on enforcing segregation then we should have provisions in place to allow fans to sit if they wish. This was an option at YS with the benches but isn't possible now. Like Scott says, sitting in the West Stand is theoretically fine but it does risk an overzealous steward clocking away fans and being a nob about it. Not everyone can stand up for two hours.

I know at YS plenty of away fans simply ignored the segregation and sat in the Main Stand where the view was a heck of a lot better than the corner of the YS end!

Its all to do with ground grading.  As Said from the outset Pilgrim way was always going to be set up for the football league so that meant the relevant ground grading was needed. Part of that is the need of a safe space for away fans (Segregations). At this level while our grading says we have to have it the use of it is not a rule

Can't fault the league position at all. Just need to tighten up at the back and a successful season can be had.
Not sure what to make of the ongoing 'Boston hokey cokey', Elliott in, Elliott out.....in out, in out............ ::)

They Both bring different styles to the match and both can change a game. I don't think it matters who starts.
Elliott has defences chasing him everywhere and Jake gets them rattled. Who ever is on the bench as the job of changing the game. The one who starts as the job of wearing them down. Reminds me of the Davidson/Suarez Set up

That's a fair difference in figures given by the same person. I.E Yours was told on the tour and mine was from a conversation a few weeks back with him in the concourse of the North stand, Regardless of which one he gave was the truth if any of them i do find it refreshing that we have chairmen that happily approaches people for a chat and is happy to share aspects of the club with them. One thing that is for sure was the near 1.7m he wrote of as that already shows at companies house

Was there any indication when work would re start on the South stand and when it would be completed?

After talking to scotty as soon as it can and will take around 9 month. Just waiting for material price to stabilise a bit so they can see what the cost will be.
From a different source the current spend so far is around 14.5 mill with around 5.5 mill needed to do the south stand. At the beginning the ground was going to stand at 11.5m. Now when it is finished it will stand at 20m. This shows how the prices as gone up sharply. It also shows that how committed to the job Newton is as he as sunk a further 8.5m in on top of the 1.7m he wrote off from the time he was propping us up

Good video, Scotty. Just makes me more upset that, with a lovely new stadium and all the wonderful facilities, BUFC should have a team playing at a higher level than regional non-league football. Hopefully, one day we can achieve that.

The stadium will hopefully allow us to achieve that. YS was a great stadium but weighed us down in ways the new place never will. Won't be overnight though.

This is the big issue. To Many think its going to be immediate. I behind Newton on is thinking in regards of letting things level up before Making the long term changes regarding Budgets. Income and outgoings.

Who knew we was going to start getting 1500 a match. Same as how easy it was to sell 4 Vip boxes at 10k each And the club 85 been so popular. Add the extra sales on the bars etc and things look good. Just going to need this first season with fans using it to find its financial foot

I think the biggest shame is that BUFC could only name 4 substitutes. Surely it was opportunity to name a Youth Team player on the bench for the experience?

It would have been but it comes down to getting forms done and ratified in time.

OXO, pleased you had a good away trip yesterday, did Liam"s dad say where he is playing now?  I know that he left Dunstan UTS last season and wonder if he"s still playing?.  Incidentally, just watched Sheffield FC v Dunstan highlights from yesterday - Marc Newsham scored a peach of a winning goal for home side in 85th. He"s captain there and still doing what he does best !

Liam now lives and works in Dubai.

It was gutting that marc Newshams Knees couldn't handle more than they was doing. He had a good career in football if they could. A Player i liked. A player the opposition hardly knew was on the field until it was to late.

I take my earlier comment about not defending Jakes Red Card. After doing it frame by frame its clear the only movement from jakes leg was when the keeper moved his from under Jakes. They should have had at least 1 red and a yellow. also a penalty should have been given for the way Jake was poll axed

We both had a great angle from the terrace - he definitely kicked out, deserved at least a 2nd yellow. However the Stratford number 5 should've walked too, for pinning Wright down by his neck. Their number 6 and the keeper don't come out of it well either.

We did. i was directly behind it and a first it looked as if he had but breaking it right down into segments the only movement from jakes feet is from the fall all movement was natural. Then there was movement coursed by there keeper pulling clear from the tangle there legs was in. The tangle was also coursed by there keeper as he put is knee in when getting up. At that point Jake pulled his feet away. There no offence that i can see and even Trever who came with me who is a ref himself could not understand how Jake got a yellow (2nd)

I'm Yet to see Burrow Make any sort of impact the way Jake does. to look at what a player does we have to look past goal scoring and look at other things. I.E. Jake as a good ability of holding the ball up better than most. Something that can win games. He can wind up players and get there heads in a mess, something else that can win games. He drives a players.

I never get some fans. They shout for us to get into players and when they do they moan when it goes wrong.
If you would not play a player Because he got a bit rash then most teams would not be able to field a 5 a side let alone 11

Jake right makes a massive impact when he comes on. The game changed yesterday once he came on. same as the several matches this season, but i guess some people will only ever see what they want to see longs it means they have something to pine and moan about. Jake is that wind up player every team needs when you need someone to do the dirty business. And yes sometimes he goes a bit far like yesterday and gets a red but take that away from him do you have the same player left. When he got the red yesterday it was a blow as at that time he looked the most likely person to score. Never doubt the red but where is the level playing field. One player has is foot in his chest the other with his hands round his neck both straight reds. Keeper starts to get up for a fight then see play as stopped so he dive back down and rolls around. My Brother in law hates football as he says its the only game they teach you to cheat and TBF on yesterdays match he has a big point

Yeah, shame to see Thewlis go but if the terms we were offering didn't suit his personal circumstances then fair enough, it is what it is. Other two were fringe players anyway so not fussed.

He did not want to go but reading his reasons it was clear that he would need a 2 year contract to stay. Last season (or what ever you want to call it) injuries and poor form leaves 2 year contract a big risk for us and with the players we have and with Jake signing today we have plenty up top.

Thewlis will always be remembered at Boston for that goal in the fa cup. I wish him well going forward

We've just had ours this evening at The Sidings medical centre. Amazingly efficient, quick and painless system. Very impressive and congratulations to everyone involved.

Had mine this morning there. Got to say the organization was top notch. gov may have made many mistakes but between them and the NHS the vaccine roll out as been impressive.

Just how much were we paying in rent for York Street?

Looking at the accounts through the weaver web its just shy of 79k. but that was not all. For a fair while we have also been running up 20 to 30k a year in repairs and maintenance to keep the old girl going. So you could say as much as we loved York street we was paying out over 100k a season.
