What a signing we have in Hazel.  He never stops running and can hold up the ball.  The lads did us proud yesterday, but taking the two wide players off nearly cost us.  Looking forward to the return match ( if there is one ).

I am gonna hold my hand up to be someone who after his first game I had zero confidence and thought he was ****, However I'm pleased to say not only did he take them words and crush them but he shoved them down my throat that hard I was left red faced

Never understand why the words, 'Club of this size shouldn't be down in this league' get used so much.
There are around 27 clubs outside the football league that get better gates than us,
Around 18 of these have matched the facilities and some even more than we have,
Every club in National Premier are in a far better location than us, and at least 75% at our level are also better located,
Most of the smaller clubs above us are funded clubs or racking up debt.

Tamworth get Ave 1246 and the Debt has climbed to over 1 million.
Chorley get Ave 1070 and their Debt is claiming towards the half-million mark.
Brackley tbh are one of the weirdest Set ups around, Current land registries show their club owners 4 bits of land paid by grants and yet none have sports on, The land they play on is on a lease but the agreement shows no amount of time or any signs that they are paying for it. that are around half a mil in debt but their cash in hand is always over a million.

There are many more clubs in that boat some are not even above us. As a club, we are in minimal debt and building within budget, Granted we have to pay a little more to get players in due to our location but I'm happy with the way the club is run, We would all like more but never at the expense of Debt etc

Don't know what we offered but for a team to offer cash at this time of season for a player that was out of contract soon and showed his desire to try and move up instead of stay i personally think its a nice bit of buisness

Seems we have a choice.   Clueless or Coxless.   In fairness he should be given at least till the end of September.
I would give him six games.  We need a settled side for FA cup.. we need some kind of a run for much needed funds.

The FA cup is one area that cox as a habbit of doing well. He took 4 different non league clubs to the 3rd round

Repeat what i said last season. and whiles the end to last season offered a little comfort that i may have been wronge it looks like im still right.

Cox was a poor appointment. Yes he may have a promotion or 2 under his belt but its worth looking at how.

Eastwood town oct 2006 became manager and gained back to back promotion but then they got told they wouldnt be allowed to play in the conference premier. this was done by a very brutish and direct style of football. Also cox was been allowed to spend well over the budget and a unpaid tax bill led to a winding up petition. The club dropped down a league after cox left so they could try and get themselves back on level ground but playing the whole season on nearly no money see them finish 22nd and relegated to the Northern premier league one. This proved to be the final nail as the council barred them from there ground due to 9 months rent arrears. After 5 postponed home games they resigned from football.

Cox followed this up with a good recored with mansfield town but once again a very well founder mansfield town only difference here was John Radford was a mansfield town fan at heart and was happy to substain the founding to get the club back in the football league.

After that his record is at best average.
3 Months at torquay left due to no pay
22 Months at Barrow 1st season 11th, 2nd season 7th resigned 24th august and joined guiseley 11 days later.
Sacked after 29 games with only 4 wins
Record at kettering town shows with a balanced budget he will only offer mid table at best

Keepers look good, defence and midfield look strong. Still lacking creativity and pure pace, not sure where the goals are going to come from.

Agreed. Little worried about our lack of hight along the back but on the ground we look good at the back. Also think the players we have would be better in a 4-4-2 or a 4-1-2-1-2 with abbott playing DM and Pollock in AM. Only thing i will disagree on is creativity as i think we are creactive. Just think we are a bit like a brand new knife that is missing the point

Dont care what people say but im pleased leesley as opted to come aboard. He got his critics but behind elliott last season he was the biggest contributor to the team. yes he misses a lot of passes but thats because if you watch the replays from last season he makes so many passes compared to others thats its inevitable at this level. But on the other side of that he makes that many passes he also as the highest pass completion rate. Teams not about who going to be the best to get on with at the bar, its about getting the job done

From my understanding a deal that was offered was already at the top of what could be offered due to trying to secure him. I believe this was offered around the time the retain list was issued.
This was chased up  just over a week ago but was declined as it did not meet expectations. Just one of them things in football and whiles gutted as a club Team Balance and Budget must always come first. Break it for one player could make a unhappy Balance

Pidge was a great asset to the club when he was here but always lacked the pace and when in the team needed to be backed up by a sweeper

Oh Pete it would have been about £14 cheaper to get a day return Nottingham to Sheffield and then another one Sheffield to York and you could have travelled on any train!

Sorry by posting this I realise I might have reduced the price you can get even further...

You go Kick a man when he's Down :P

When we played Telford recently the Telford boss in aftermatch interview said he'd been told Boston were going full time next season even if not promoted. If affordable seems like to really challenge even in this league.
Affordable........... Think on what i have seen this first season we should be full time and some

The B-Ark / Re: Watering pitch
« on: April 26, 2022, 06:51:43 PM »
The soil profile of the JCS pitch is likely contain a high proportion of sand, watering helps the surface maintain structure and stability. Sand pitches are far superior to soil based, and I doubt we will see a fixture off for waterlogging under normal conditions. I think the days of managers trying to "trick a pitch up" due to watering, or having the grass cut imperceptibly higher to slow the ball down as it runs to the corners are long gone. Players at our level are more likely to slip, even on a dry pitch.
Gutted about Tom's injury though, anyone know how bad it's likely to be?

If you're remotely interested in stuff like this and aren't already, Jim Portas and FineTurf are interesting to follow on Twitter. FineTurf are always posting about their various projects, which includes aftercare for our pitch. Reps will often pop down to take core samples of the grass and they post photos of them - you can clearly see the sandy layer.

Interestingly, water collected by our drainage system isn't filtered and retained - it's simply dumped into a nearby ditch. Jim posted a pic of that once and it's was amazing to see how much water the drains were collecting flushing out the ditch. It's a complete change to the old York Street days.

But its not is it?

The rainwater is still not getting harvested, its been wasted.

I can't believe that given how much has been spent on the stadium another few thousand wasn't spent on harvesting the rainwater that falls on the pitch and the stand roofs. For the initial outlay the savings over the years would be enormous.

From what im aware is the water used on the pitch is harvest off the main stand roof and from the 3G pitch so a large element of it is eco friendly.
