As Silk found out to his cost, it is very important that players attend the Thursday night training sessions to learn about tactics, set piece moves, etc. Jelleyman presumably missed an important training session to attend the birth of his daughter. Obviously therefore he wasn't committed enough to Boston United.
There is nothing wrong with players having children, but obviously this should be strictly timetabled so that the birth takes place between mid-May and mid-July. Additionally, the act of conceiving should not take place on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday during the football season - as this could then impact on the player's energy levels and performance at training or on matchdays. The rules are there for a reason. Players are well paid and need to abide by these rules.
On a serious note, all the best to Gareth and his family and thanks for his efforts.
