Ex Town Goalie
« on: June 29, 2009, 09:04:27 AM »
Scott Loach could find himself playing for England in the European Under 21 Championships Final against Germany.
He is already the first former Boston Town player to win international honours.
Loach one of three goalkeepers in Stuart Pearce's squad in Sweden and he featued in the group match against the Germans.
First choice keeper Joe Hart is suspended for the final after receving two yellow cards.
Pearce must now choose whether to select Loach or Peterborough's Joe Lewis between the sticks.
Loach made 18 appearances for Boston Town in two loan spells from Lincoln City in 2005.
He was signed by Watford when they were promoted to the Premier League in the summer of 2006.

Well, what a disappointment ... both in terms of Loach's individual goalkeeping display and in terms of England as a whole. Germany fully deserved the 4-0 scoreline.

What was Loach doing when he fumbled the second goal over the line? If he'd done that in a Boston Town shirt he'd have been criticised from the terraces. And surely he was also at fault for the German's third goal - which passed straight through his legs.

Based on Loach's performance tonight, Aaron Butcher is unlucky not to be part of the England U-21 setup.

England as a whole were poor. I thought James Milner played well and Micah Richards did ok. But the rest of them were a waste of space. How many times did Theo Walcott touch the ball in the second half? My guess is less than five.
