AFC Fylde

Even though I've only a 35 miles trip for tonight's game, I left home early expecting heavy teatime traffic, particularly to join the M61 near Bolton and then again where the M61 meets the M6 near Preston. That expectation didn't materialise and I've arrived already and parked up.

Had a brief chat with one of the car park stewards and he said they've signed a winger on loan today from Gateshead. He wasn't over confident of a win, though, as he said 'Look what they did to us in that play-off semi-final'.

He also mentioned that the Fylde are providing
free coach travel for their supporters for their away game at Altrincham next Saturday.

They were charging Boston fans more than home fans on the advance tickets, somehow. Absolute rabble. Probably the least popular club in the division.

What a result.

Kept alive hopes of staying up, even as an optimist I was thinking we were down if we lose.

Need to back it up and put back to back wins together

I thought it was an excellent performance and a thoroughly deserved win.

We looked dangerous going forward all night, and were much the better team by far in the first half.

They came back into it more in the second half, but we frustrated the hell out of them as they had to keep going backwards and sideways after running into Boston cul-de-sacs.

Their star man Nick Haughton kept dropping further and further back to gain possession, and when we broke up their attacks we gave them plenty to think about with some speedy counter attacks.

And, once again, our supporters won the cheering and singing contest.

Classic away performance that.

Should have been out of sight in the first half; bit more rear guard in the second but we reduced them to half chances and hopeful shots from distance.

Unfortunately, Maidenhead's unexpected win at Oldham was a bit of a spoiler but with another winnable-looking game against a relegation rival coming up in just a week how different could things look as we go into March?

Every game is massive now but Eastleigh is another must-win, especially as we should have beaten them at their place last year. It'll be my first (and only) home game of the season, so I have high hopes!

A good performance away from home, shame results have gone against us since. Got back at 01:40 fully happy with a day out! More of the same please, let's make a fight of it!

Of note, nice to see Mr Newton in the away end with us.
