Quiet Forum

Is it me or is this forum as quiet as it has ever been?

Maybe a sign of our deflated times?

Or linked in to the general lack of communication and updates from the club?

Maybe some fans use Facebook group that would have used this forum in the past?

This is still the best forum
I have removed the shell from my racing snail to make it go faster, if anything it's made it more sluggish.

The club has never had so many staff, yet the information coming out of it is on a par with the 80's and 90's when JB was on his own doing the lot.

They don't even bother putting links up for away tickets which to my mind shows exactly where the loyalest fans rank in their list of priorities.

But you can get a link from the website to major sponsors no problem.

I think the club has lost touch with its fan base, they need to be careful because there's a lot out there that have only discovered Utd since the ground switch, and if they start feeling alienated they'll soon find other things to do on Saturday afternoon, rather like a growing number of legacy fans disillusioned with the direction the club has taken in the last few years.

So what is wrong with putting exactly the same info on the Boston United web site? surely that is what it was created for - to inform the fans!!!

The videos are more of a social media thing, but the half season tickets news was put on the website (which is then synced to Twitter/Facebook) and the away ticket link is always in the match previews.

The away match ticket price might always be in the match previews but that is not a lot of use if the prices have already gone up by a fiver by the time you are posting the review! This is what happened for the Oldham game as I remember coming on here to point out there were only five hours to get cheap tickets.

I'm sorry that is just really poor customer service.

As for stuff being on Twitter, well about a third of the UK population have Twitter accounts but 95% use the internet. If you really only have time or energy to post in one place, it would make sense to do it where more people are going see it!

They are on Facebook too. If people want to see the social stuff, then social media is where they'll find it. The website is for information.

Yes its the information I'm interested in, I don't care about the social stuff like videos and photos etc. But the information is often posted on the website really late and I don't understand why...

If I'm going to an away game then I'd go to the home teams website and get tickets in the away fans section.

So why isn't it on the Offical BUFC page in good time?

They must know ticket prices well in advance, surely its advantageous to get more clicks on our website than the opposition.

I couldn't care less what the usual suspects say, the regular match attending fan is an inconvenience to this club since the stadium opened, its all about corporate hospitality and getting a nice family audience in, David Newton said as much at the last Shareholders meeting I attended, hence why I don't attend home games any more, I don't go where I'm not wanted.

I find it's quite erratic. Earlier in the season, Sutton had a system whereby they would e-mail an exclusive link for away fans directly to the away club for them to distribute - as far as I recall you couldn't just go to their website and buy a ticket in the away section, you had to use the link. Boston tweeted it out (actually they had to re-do it as Sutton initially sent them the wrong link), but of course I missed it. I couldn't find it on the actual website, so I moaned to Craig about it and he sent me a link to the tweet I had missed several days earlier.

A lot of this could be avoided with a "Next Match" update on, say, a Monday for a Saturday game with a link to the away ticketing platform and useful information like parking and trains. Instead, this stuff gets left until the Match Preview story which only gets published on a Thursday. Until relatively recently we were also really bad at replying to simple requests from away fans about home games on social media, often I had to leap into FB comments or Twitter threads with answers. This has got a bit better since Ceri has been tweeting, though. Again, I don't blame Craig - he has a lot on his plate, but the club need to be better at sharing his workload and providing a better experience for everyone.

It's not just us. While some clubs have excellent pre-match information, others are utterly useless: I often see poor Richard Collins desperately trying to get information from away clubs on transport/parking stuff, only to be steadfastly ignored.
