We have to make the January transfer market without too much damage

The January transfer window is only a PL/EFL thing. We're allowed to sign players as and when, until the 4th Thursday in March. The only part of it that does apply, I believe, is the length of loans - we can sign EFL players on longer-term loans in January (i.e. until the end of the season, but limited to 3 months mid-season - albeit we can then extend current loans too, e.g. if we needed to keep Aidan Stone longer we could agree an extension until the end of the season with Notts C in January).

I have friends who live in Rotherham, who tend to watch United with me when we play in the area. Last night was the first time that they were disappointed with the performance. Men against boys was the comment ( exactly what GC said in his interview ). I thought we were bullied off the ball all over the park.  They had a game plan and it worked. As always we worked hard, but fell short.  We have to make the January transfer market without too much damage.  I agree with Pete, we wasted the summer without bringing in players to keep us up. Boundary park lived up to it's reputation as the coldest stadium in the country, it was bloody freezing.

And that was exactly my comment at half-time when I WhatsApp messaged two friends back home, and then at fulltime I commented to them:-
'Our players looked so small compared to the majority of the Latics players, got brushed off the ball far too easily and dithered a bit with our speed of
thought nowhere near the level of the home team. We had more possession in the second half and have no complaint about the effort displayed and
the willingness to run and run. I think some of our passing went astray simply due to the Oldham's players' ability to anticipate and intercept them"

As for the cold, I was parked near the Premier Inn just up the road from the away end of the ground and, as I walked back, you could see it was freezing and frost forming on car windscreens and roofs.

I wonder if it was even too cold for some of the natives, as it was their lowest gate of the season at 5,013? Our 194 (and a few of us sat in the Main Stand too) certainly wasn't the reason. Their biggest crowd to date was on Saturday 5 October v. Solihull Moors at 7,030 with only 89 visiting fans. Other Saturday opponents have taken fewer than us last night too : v. Braintree 5,552 (97 away) and v. Dagenham & Redbridge 5,651 (67 away). When AFC Fylde visited on a Tuesday night it was 5,682 and, despite only having a 50 miles journey (and all motorway too) just 198 of their fans travelled.

Unfortunately we were there on a CL night with a load of EFL games on too which would have impacted on the gate.

And lets be honest, we're hardly a big draw on a freezing night in East Lancs are we?

But never underestimate our support, its been magnificent away from home, just a shame we've being repaid by the poorest of recruitment policies for many a season.
