FA Trophy

The draw for the Trophy was made this afternoon with The Pilgrims being drawn at home to Alvechurch on the 7th December. Looking at some of the ties in both the North & South sections we have at this stage been lucky with the draw. £4.5 thousand for the winners so hopefully a good run in this competition will boost confidence and the coffers.

I have said this for the past couple of decades, this competition is, sadly, now treated as a distraction by most Step 1 and 2 clubs but a team who wants to take it seriously should have little difficulties in getting to the latter stages if they face a plethora of 2nd teams on their journey.
Alan Partridge: "I bet I've got more friends than you've got cows. How many cows have you got?"
Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"

For us, should we beat Braintree and Ebbsfleet before the Trophy match v Alvechurch we may find ourselves 2 or 3 points from 20th position in the table and have a realistic hope of survival and the trophy is then a far distant second priority from the league, however if we lose to Braintree and Ebbsfleet we could find ourselves up to 13 points from safety and little realistic hope of staying up and the trophy may be all we have left to play for may as well make it our main priority.

A big opening first few games for the new manager that will define if we will continue to battle to stay up for the rest of the season or not have a realistic hope of staying up before the trophy game.
