Agree it is a good read. I'm sure there are ways of encouraging people to apply if we really want to consider any of these to be manager. Let's be patient and see what develops

That is certainly a very considered and informed article. Interesting times...

Wouldn't class Cully with Scott and Hurst, tbh. We were mediocre for most of last season and were lucky to sneak into the play-offs. I still think he's dining out on that "title" with King's Lynn but they were fading badly and likely would have been caught had it not been for Covid.

Also, considering the job he did in the circumstances he found himself, I think it's pretty harsh to call Tommy Taylor a miss!

One thing about Cully was he won the games that really mattered, that's what set him apart. When we needed points he got them, yes it wasn't a great league but everyone was pretty consistent in their average-ness!

Tommy Taylor had a budget that was the envy of the league and finished 12th, by the next autumn we were flirting with relegation. A good guy and possibly the right guy at the time but his record in management is beyond mediocre.

Decent read but if none of the three apply then it's all a bit moot!

I don't think Elliott applied when he got the job did he? Newton head-hunted him after going through the applicants...

You get to know some stuff Scotty, have you bugged the offices or something?!

Can't see a mere fan like yourself being entrusted with stuff that only the club 'need to knows' will be told......

Not saying it's gospel! Could be totally wrong, but it was a bit of a surprise when announced. He was obviously doing very well at Shaw Lane.

He also knew that project had plateaued and the owner was preparing to pull the plug.

Craig fell on his feet here, and he did OK, but I never expected to win the big games that mattered under him, our record against the top 6 in any given season was pretty average.

I've not taken any notice of how he's doing at BPA, I do hope he's getting a tune out of them though.

And his team were far too strong for us here last season…

Very well indeed, but I think the whole division has a job on the catch Cleethorpes.

On the plus side that's next Xmas and NYD sorted if we go down........... unless Scunny cock it up again!

Edit; Didn't realize BPA went down in successive seasons so thats that plan down the tubes.

http://www.nonleagueyorkshire.com/2020/04/07/my-greatest-game-craig-elliott-knew-his-shaw-lane-journey-was-near-end-after-mansfield-fa-cup-tie/

"“I was with Shaw Lane for about another three weeks when Boston made an approach. Earlier in the season there had been a couple of clubs interested in me. They were in the National League, but at the time I was genuinely happy and had no intention of leaving. We were top and doing well in the FA Cup. The turning point was the midweek game after the Mansfield game and when Boston came in it felt like the right move to make and I’ve never regretted coming to Boston because it is a great job to have"
