I imagine it will be our u23s and the likes of Leak, Ward, Marriott, Craven, Aderoujou who didn't start Saturday.

As we aren't in a reserve or u23s league I guess this is a different alternative.

Yes, they've played about 12 or 13 (friendly) matches already this season, including one at Boston Town not long ago. There's many more in that squad this year, than last - as planned.

The entire point of the Cup is to expose PL2 kids to senior first teamers, so I would assume it's written into the rules we must play a certain number of first teamers.

Unless, of course, the National League has forgotten to add this as a condition - which wouldn't surprise me.

Not remotely interested in this fixture aside from the damage it has the potential to cause to our first team's fitness levels.

I shouldn't think players like Bostwick and Mills (what a performance Saturday from Mills Saturday, great goal and brilliant in defense) will play, keep them fit for Saturday.

I actually thought about going, if only to see who is in the Leeds team.

But the weather is atrocious so sod that for a game of soldiers.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a good few Leeds fans turn up, just to tick the ground off.

On Saturday I went to Fratton Park, all trains in the South Coast were cancelled due to engineering work so I had to go from Totton to Eastleigh on the bus and then onto Fratton via a train, the temptation was to visit Eastleigh's ground while I was there but it was a hike from the station so I'll go on Mick's bus in a few weeks.

Fratton was ground 167, The Hive will be 168 on Saturday and Eastleigh 169 unless something happens inbetween.

I can only see 2 games on the website, both back in August

Premier League using this to blood academy players into men’s football for me is a no. If we lose three or four to injury it could seriously dent our chance of staying up. A nonsense competition to me.

Yeah, in a recent interview Joe alluded to the fact things look quiet on the website but they've been extremely busy behind the scenes with plenty of matches played.

I read it's somewhere that you need to feature 4 players who play either the weekend before or after. So I assume this counts subs, so we'll be fine with people like Leak, Ward, etc.

They aren't publicised, but we've been travelling to EFL U21 teams and reasonably local step 5/6 clubs (I expect behind closed doors, or on 3G pitches somewhere).

And as Josh pointed out, more than Kings Lynn got for their FA Cup replay with Worksop.

I wasn't aware of the £10k bonus for winning the game, in real terms that's a not inconsiderable sum, 3 wins probably pays the bus bill for the season or an employees wages. I do get the apathy towards it, but £10k is more than we'd get for winning an early stage FA Cup tie, its not to be sniffed at.

Sorry, but some things are far more important than money and the legitimisation of B team football and using Boston United as training fodder for PL2 academy sides in competitive games is absolutely one of them.

It's not "apathy" either. It's absolute fury that this thing has been foisted on us with the overwhelming number of non-league fans against it. Being paid off to partake in it and put the very future of senior football at this level at risk is unseemly, grubby and ultimately a huge error of judgement from everybody at Boston United.

Will they listen to us? The sad thing is.... probably not.

Boston Utd is a business Pete

Run by businessmen who make business decisions, not football decisions.

Of course they won't listen to you.

My view is chuck the U21's teams in the League cup where the 1st team is in European competition, see how they fare, but it has to be the U21's right the way through except for say 2 or 3 age exempt 1st teamers. The League Cup is dying on its arse, use that as a platform, not clubs like ours.
