Couldn't be there today but what a wonderful tonic the lads provided and one of the best Birthday Presents I have had for years. I said last week these boys are coming together to give us a great team to support, both of the last two away games the manager has set them up with a great game plan that they have carried out to perfection. Lets pack the place out next Tuesday and show them how much we care and believe in them.  UTP

Toyed with going and impressed by those that did, with no trains the traffic around there would be horrible, big commitment.  Great result and performance by the sounds of the radio and just shows what they can do with equal numbers on the pitch!

Gutted I missed the game. Brilliant result, after the first three games I worried for our future. A long way to go, but every point is another ticked off our target.  Hopefully I'm fit for Tuesday and see another win.
I have removed the shell from my racing snail to make it go faster, if anything it's made it more sluggish.

A superb all round performance. Hopefully the bostwick injury will prove not to be too serious. It looked like a stinger from the way that he was holding the back of his neck.

It will do the confidence a lot of good. After the early start to the season, it looks as though a lot of our squad have worked out that they really are not out of place at this level.

Starting to believe we are staying up!

First 3 matches Rochdale, FGR and and Southend we were a distant second best.

Last 4 Tamworth, York, Yeovil and Sutton we showed we can compete in this league. Good wins v York and Sutton, deserved 3 points v Tamworth only a last min goal prevented the win. Put in a good performance v Yeovil.

Rochdale and FGR sit 3rd and 4th in the table and are clubs that have far bigger resources than us and likely will be up competing for promotion at the end of the season and we may still struggle against clubs like these. Although what was encouraging to see was whilst we looked outclassed in the first 3 matches the work rate and team spirit looked good.

Cully seems to have now found his best 11. Hazel looks back to his best, the player he was before he got injured in February which is great to see and it has been working well with Osbourne and Weston wide men in the front 3. Big difference to the opening 3 games where we struggled up front with the forward players not working together well, not making much of an impact before Osbourne and Hazel came into the 11.

Trains were running fine into Sutton itself, which according to Sutton themselves is the better station to use anyway!

Honestly, I can't speak highly enough about the performance yesterday. Tactics were spot on, everyone put a shift in, Jai Rowe was absolutely exceptional, Hazel was a constant menace, fans were superb. We absolutely dominated them for the first 35 minutes, I'm not sure if they changed their system but they got a foothold in the game for the last 15 mins without ever really testing Cam. Second half was just a textbook away performance.

Wow. First game of the season for me and a 16 hour day.... but what a game.

Kudos to the Sutton stewards as well, extremely affable bunch. As were the Sutton fans congratulating us as we left the ground.

All in all... I've had worse away days.

I thought the stewarding was chaotic to be honest! We got inside the ground and took up a, position on the front fence. Nobody told us we were standing anywhere we shouldn't until literally the moment the game kicked off. Then a steward came up and said we had to move behind a yellow barrier. We started to move but then a second steward told us we didn't have to. Didn't watch the first minute of the match properly as we were doing the hokey cokey along the terrace, trying to work out where we were supposed to be. We ended up standing on the front fence near to a "no standing" sign, but with the full assurance from the steward that we we were allowed to stand there. For a side that has just come out of the Football League, I was surprised how badly organised things were. When you think of all the improvements we had to make at York Street, like yellow painted hatch markings, etc, but Sutton had none of that. From what one of the stewards said there are two different security companies who manage the games and they have different rules in different parts of the ground. Home fans behind the goal get moved back from the front fence, but away fans down the side are allowed to stand there. Trouble is, the inconsistency even confuses the stewards themselves.

Stewards were friendly and amenable enough, just didn't seem to know what they were doing!

Ah, fair enough - I saw none of that! I noticed a lot of the stewards were wearing hi-vis from Lords (the cricket ground, I assume) so perhaps they were just drafted in as it became apparent we'd be travelling in decent numbers?

A nice touch at the end the stewards on the pitch clapped the support.

Away support is superb at the minute, not just the numbers but also the backing of them. As it should be!
