It seems to me they are mostly having to create the (half) chances themselves and are not getting much service for the tap ins or let’s say more straightforward chances?

Yep, they're being left to do all the heavy lifting. I mean, even with a Ricky Miller type in your team who can create goals from nothing you wouldn't build a squad to reply on him alone. You'd be asking for trouble.

And yet... we seem to have done exactly that - and forgotten to sign a Ricky Miller.

Agreed  ,  after the disappointment of watching the  Farsley performance online I wasn't expecting such a decent bounce  back. The Hereford defence was pretty solid and it was only the outside of Knowles boot that split the sides. Cam Gregory made a John McKenna esque save to guarantee the points at the death when instant reflexes flung his hands at the ball.
1:0 is never enough so we were made to sweat but a deserved win on one of our best home performances. 
Credit to the Hereford support , 2 bus loads coming all that way and kept going throughout the game despite the result. They certainly put plenty behind the bar in Ellenders which helped with the singing.
