Former Chesterfield midfielder Davies returned for a second spell with the Gladiators at the start of the season from Gainsborough Trinity having previously been with Stalybridge Celtic. Boston put seven days notice in on Davies who had impressed against them in both of the league games between the two clubs which saw Matlock take four points off the title chasers.

"I'm very disappointed to lose him for like Simon Sturdy, he's done really well. We offered him vastly improved terms but we couldn't compete with what Boston offered him. We wish him all the best but it will leave us lightweight in midfield. Defensively we're better off as Mark Haran can come in and play in Simon's place, so I'll be trying to get someone else in to bolster us in the middle of the park."

I would agree with you but without any doubt what so ever, They dont have a clue what was offered its a case of them just looking at big club, big gates so they offered more money, They cant see past there noses at the fact that the player may have looked at it as a big club still local with a good fan base. Time some people started thinking past the past painted picture

Meanwhile, the Pilgrims hope to unveil a new signing ahead of the weekend. However, the signing will only be announced once the relevant paperwork has been completed.

Just got a facebook message off my mate out of the blue and hes a Matlock Fan. His words were he is a big strong lad who tackles well and is tidy on the ball. Takes good freekicks. He had played his best football for them as a holding midfielder however at one point was deployed on the wing and that just didn't suit him. He also thanked Boston for 4 points (little bugger ;D).

Direct replacement for Church during the ban, good work.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

I have one question to ask............

Did we really need to go out and buy a direct replacement for Church when we already have Adam Millson who is back from his loan spell at Spalding???

Millson isn't fully match fit, and Camm is ready for surgery. Parker can play in midfield, but would be needed at the back if any of the current back 4 get injured.

Jackson has left the club, and I believe one of Hurst or Scott said not so long ago there was still room in the budget.

Shall we carry on with maybe a squad of 14 or so available players??

yes we did,two reasons,we needed to bolster the squad size and a player like davies ticks all boxes and milly isnt the same type of player as church,as good as he is
