Kings Lynn Town
« on: March 02, 2021, 05:33:29 PM »
Big article in Monday’s Daily Mail (page 13, sports section) on ‘Clubs in crisis’. Mr Cleeve saying they needed £300,000 to complete the season but are out of money. Culverhouse not happy.

Also heard that reserve players being asked if they would play in the first team for £50 a game. May see an exodus of high earners.

Yep - and could only name 4 subs too! Still a 2-2 draw gives them a vital point. Glad Sonny Carey doing well there at the moment and Bazza is a total legend. However, what is going on at King's Lynn Town is staggering and their published financial issues will be severely damaging to the club whether they escape relegation or not.

Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"

Marriott and Southwell were not in the squad for some reason although both played for part of the previous game.

I gather they have both been furloughed. Must be because they are the 2 players in their squad on big wages.

Furloughed - and makes sense given the circumstances of the league.

Furloughed their own players, but then borrow one from another club.

If National League carries on with no relegation but promotion will become a farce with teams that can't get promoted furloughing their players on highest wages.
