#LetUsPlay
« on: February 22, 2021, 08:17:16 PM »
David Newton has been consistent in his view that the NLN & NLS season should continue,  and he is one of the 18 who signed the open letter to Mark Ives asking for those clubs to be allowed to play out the season in some way.
The Chairman has a habit of making the right decisions, so if it is important to him then it's likely to be important to the club; there may be more to it than the reasons outlined in the letter, either way, for what he has done for BUFC he has surely earned the right to our support.  B)

If Grass Roots football returns on 29 March as is being discussed, NL North and South will be the only leagues not allowed to play!

They can't and won't play if a) no fans are allowed and b) clubhouses are forced to remain shut.

It's just not worth it for them otherwise.

Looks like we might see some football again this season. Just reported -

"Following meetings with National League officials, a proposal for a National North & South competition will be tabled.

The combined Step 2 league would result in promotion.

It needs approval from National League clubs, the Alliance Committee (who meet Monday) & the FA Council."

Be interesting to see what format this takes. From a personal point of view, will be great if this will mean we can see a match at our new season in May which I've been looking forward to. Hopefully they will try and schedule as many matched as possible after the 17th May date when hopefully fans will be in stadiums.

Well, since we don't currently have a ground to play at, if this goes ahead do we:

- pull out altogether?
- play all games away from home?
- ask around for another groundshare?

Cut the defective column down and weigh it in at Sid's yard.
Get a temporary works scaffolding design signed off for the other 3, and we're in business!  :police:

Seems to me Pete, that David Newton must have run over a Robin.  If he didn't have bad luck he would have no luck at all.  Perhaps lowering of the floodlights and day time matches only if allowed.
The older I get, the earlier it gets late

Thats a better solution Dipodah.  The floodlights will be under some sort of warranty. Get the supplier to have the other 3 lowered and removed until they've been checked.
If there's evening games you can hire in as many temporary floodlights as required, there's plenty of space for them while there's no fans  B)
