Not sure how this will end now. Not much will change in 2 weeks Covid wise.

Maybe they are hoping that grants will come forward in 2 weeks? If grants come forward then carry on, if they don't then most clubs will reject loans and season over or further suspend season until fans back in late spring?

2 weeks surely not long enough for clubs to do furlough for staff though?

It's not about Covid (directly). The clubs want the league to spend more time over their decision regarding the loans, in a hope that we may somehow get them converted back to grants.

Cancel the season.  It should never have started.  Let's get this bloody disease under control, and have proper football with fans in attendance.

Yeah, exactly right - the situation with Covid won't have changed substantially in two weeks (although thanks to lockdown numbers are slowly trending the right way, but not by much). Not sure what we expect the National League to achieve in a fortnight though, especially given their recent track record! I'd never love to be more wrong though.

100% agree. This season has been a stop-start-will we play-won't we play-Darlington fiasco mess! How can regional non-league football clubs survive without the fans? Re-start the season or start a new one when the fans are permitted which may be sooner than later anyhow. :police:

Why is the National League itself still allowed to go ahead today?

Good question! Perhaps the consistently inconsistent League Committee could explain!

National League clubs were fine to carry on.

But why Pete, are they immune to Covid19 or do they know something we don't???

During this lockdown the number of daily new cases has been happily reducing by 10,000 per week approximately.

At the start we had 50,000+ new cases every week, the peak being around the 60,000, mark. Then we had a week of 40,000, one of 30,000s, and last week was in the 20,000s.

The reductions will probably not continue quite so uniformly, but it's the case rate that is important for future planning not the other one that is more alarming but lags behind.

We haven't yet reached the rate at the peak before the second lockdown, but should arrive there next week.

It would be a lot safer to start up again in two weeks than it was at the time of cessation.

I see this match v Brackley has been rearranged for 15th May rather than March or April. Presumably in the hope that fans will be allowed to attend by May which I think it is a fairly realistic hope. Although it could well be null and void this coming week.
