Pitch size?
« on: February 03, 2020, 03:07:38 PM »
First, let me say well done to the lads.  I have been out of the country for two weeks, it is nice to see the Pilgrims are going on wards and upwards.  Just a quick question, how big will our new pitch be?  Our present pitch is one of the smaller pitches.  Would our new pitch be as tight?  I hope it is, being a part time team it can only even things up against a full time outfit.

The plans say the new pitch will be 68m wide and 105m long. The turf will extend 2.75m outside of the pitch around all edges.

Measuring the pitch on Google Maps gives YS as 60m wide and 100m long.

So on the new measurements, the crowd will be further away from the pitch.  A pity, the closeness of the crowd at YS gave us an advantage I thought.

I know it is only a few feet, but size does matter ( so the missus says ) :o :o

Absolutely despise grounds that have a fair distance between the fans and the pitch  :-[

Yes, unfortunately it looks like the new stands are going to be set back from the pitch more than they are at present. I think this will be more noticeable in the main stand, where, unlike now, the gangway will be set in front of the seats rather than midway up the stand.

a few feet is better than a few inches ( so my ex-missus used to say ) 😂
