Todays Game
« on: December 26, 2009, 06:03:00 PM »
It seems after every game we spend more time talking about the referee than about the match-so no change here.Just when you think they can't get any worse up pops one to prove you wrong.I don't know what went into the referees half-time cuppa, but his performance in the second half was one of the most eccentric i have seen 1n 30-odd years of watching Boston United.Congratulations to the lads on the win,and managing to keep cool under very difficult circumstances.

well after going 3-0 up at half time ,  a few could maybe criticise the peformace and say we laid back to much in the 2nd half

but personanlly i  have nothing but praise for the lads , many other teams would of crumbled after being 3-0 up to 3-2 adding we went down to 10men

ref was nothing but a idiot in the 2nd half , he sed determined to hand over the game to them

also was pleased to see no-one got on the lads backs today when we went to 3-2 , again we could of reacted differently sayin stuff like   ' FFS YOUR SH!T ' etc , but everyone seemed to encourage the players which ended up with us gaining 3 points and feeling asif we got one over the ref

mind you wouldn't want many more of them nail-biters too tense for me !

shall see you all at hucknall  ;D ,

I will go further than 30 years, been watching Boston for near 40 years now and that was one of the most inept performances I have seen from a referee, some of his decision making in the second half was ludicrous, seriously fortunate to get away with a win this afternoon, anyways 3 points and onwards to Hucknall, weather permitting as it don't sound too clever next week.

Whatever their manager said to the ref going in at half time really worked for them as second half he gave them everything - the foul on Church minutes before the sending off was by far the worst tackle of the match and if Church had not seen it coming then he would have finished the game on a stretcher. i am not encouraging our players to stay down or cause mass brawls when they are fouled but it seems to work a lot in this league - anyone remember the brawl against Retford?

Good performance though and three points - last year that would have been a easy defeat

I was worried that the Boxing day match would be a let down this year, how wrong was I ?

This game had everything, goals, passion, a brawl and good old fashioned football.

At 3-0 I thought it was going to be a walk in the park, but the officials made sure that did not happen.  I said someone is going to get their leg broken with the weakness of the ref, and I was nearly right.

I thought retalliation was a sending off offence?

How come none of theirs were booked in that brawl?

How come the refs assistant ran 50 yards to get involved only passed by their goalkeeper.

Oh and did anyone else notice that 5 lights fused over the period of the match, it was getting pretty dark out there. :xmashat

I noticed the lights.

As for the game, it was a good game with plenty of entertainment and action.

The ref i thought was verry good first half and took in to account the slippery conditions, But the seconded half was a complete shambles. sps are a decent team and was always gonna come at us and wich they did but with the massive help of the ref.

My only com-plaint would be the change after the sending of, i felt we was strong anuth to play with the man short in the middles instead we went to one up front wich made attacking and holding play pointless becouse it didnt work

Yes I was there and thoroughly enjoyed the match. I would like to thank the club for the chance of free entry today and the kind comments of the fans I spoke to on the terrace. I did attend the other week, the Bradford match - no comparrison. Shame about the ref today and I thought the Stocksbridge team had one purpose in the second half - to get a Boston player sent off, and it worked. I thought your lads kept their heads well and deserved the win. Good luck for the rest of the season and happy new year to you all.

Am I right in thinking that Church will still be available for the next game but suspended for the following 3 games?

If so what a 3 games to miss!

H   Jan 09, 2010   15:00   FC United Manchester
A   Jan 12, 2010   19:45   Sheffield FC
A   Jan 16, 2010   15:00   Retford United

In both league games he's going to be a big loss to the team

I think suspensions start on the 15th day after the sending off, so he should be available for the FCUM game. Millson should be back for cover...

A very enjoyable game that had most things. I was expecting them to be awarded a last minute penalty by the erratic ref, and I'm sure given half a chance he would have done the dirty deed, but the lads didn't give him that chance!
The ref's performance was like the curate's smeg...not good in parts, in fact totally rotten  :xmashat

Met a couple of Lynn fans after the match, both said they would be back. I just hope their club can bounce back, but its going to help BUFC if they do return for a few games, so well played you Chestnuts!

Can you still appeal in the UniBond?  Paul Hurst commented in his post match interview about lack of video evidence but luck has it that Santa got me a brand new camera this Christmas, and I may just have recorded it. ;)

I'm having technical problems though.  If anybody knows a way of converting .MOV files to .avi, .wma or .wmv files so that I can edit them please let me know. :snowman

Good luck with that Patrick, hope you get it sorted and justice is done  8)
