Conference North 2019/20

In comes Kettering Town, King's Lynn Town and Farsley Celtic from below, and Gloucester City and Oxford City from Conference South.

No teams relegated into our division.


Across town, visiting Tattershall Road this season are UCL newbies Anstey Nomads and Lutterworth Town (promoted) and moving from the Midland Premier are Loughborough Uni, Quorn and Shepshed Dynamo. Adds a bigger Leicestershire-feel to the UCL...


(These are provisional and subject to appeals, clubs folding, etc)

Anstey Nomads will definitely be putting us out of the FA Cup next season.

Nah. The last time Boston United played them was when Boston dropped down to the Central Alliance in 1961/2 and ended up winning their first league title. There was incredible fixture congestion at the end of the season with Boston having to play two games on the same day and also completing them on FA Cup Final day with the game at Anstey Nomads. It's one of the games that I haven't been able to track down the team sheet for yet. I guess all the journalists were down at Wembley watching Spurs beat Burnley 3-1 so they missed the 4-0 win by Boston. :)

Can't help you with that Ken, I've the programme from the home game, I bet its doubtful if a programme exists for the away game.

Leicester Mercury archive may have something?

Two games on the same day?! Blimey.

I remember us playing on a Saturday/Sunday in the mid-90s and losing both games (both 1-0 I think?). Don't think anything similar has happened since.

Nothing since but around 79/80-81/82 we often played Saturday and Sunday towards the end of the season. I seem to remember Barrow played here on their way back from a London Saturday game and Weymouth came on their way back from Scarborough.
I can remember Morecambe playing here on a Sunday in about 1978 too on the back of a hone game on the Saturday......Ken's archive will have the opponents

Never mind Anstey Nomads beating us in the Cup, my worst nightmare is losing to Shepshed Dynamo. I live a stones throw from the Dovecote and have spent many years telling the locals how good BUFC have been. It's humble pie at this moment in time.

Our total travelling miles for awayers is barely more than the average
Think 7 or 8 teams have more to do than us
Compare to recent seasons we've had well above average miles to travel and next to nothing within 2hrs

According to an article I've been reading the longest each way journeys next season in the National North will be Hereford/Blyth at 279 miles; Gloucester/Blyth at 276 miles; Oxford/Blyth at 270 miles; Brackley/Blyth at 247 miles and few other 200+ miles journeys.

And, according to the same article based on 'shortest routes' available - which I will say I haven't checked - means our longest is Blyth at 198 miles.

The shortest journey - Farsley/ Guiseley at just 6.6 miles!!

All I know is that with Stockport / Chorley / Ashton Utd / FC United all gone (all around 15 miles from where I reside) I'll be doing a fair few more miles to away games with Farsley Celtic (42 miles) the nearest of the 5 clubs coming in.

Yes Manchester area clubs hit this season having had it easy for years. Look how alty have averaged more than us last 2 seasons here.... One of them being when they came bottom!
Joys of local derbies and large away followings coming to town.... Which we rarely ever get
Chorley too.... Both clubs who sink below 750 when circumstances aren't right even when doing well
