Notts County Relegated
« on: May 04, 2019, 06:20:54 PM »
So the oldest football league club in the world has been relegated from L2.
They have gone through and are still going through a turbulent time, with miss management on and off the field.
The club is up for sale and they have a current owner who has made some shocking mistakes and decisions personally and for the club this season.
The sacking of Kevin Nolan knocked the stuffing out of the team and fans.
We should thank our lucky stars that we do not have a owner and chairman like they do.
Relegation is bad enough on it's own, but to loose what they are most proud off hurts the most "The oldest football league club in the world "

They were in the old Division One in the 80s! Big shame but that is outcome of modern day football and business.

Feel sorry for them, when I say them I mean the supporters.
Sold down the river by sharks, and wide boys, as we all know, it's not going to be easy getting back to where they were.

They should really be a League One club but them's the breaks. Pisspoor ownership, constant churn of managers and a ridiculous and antagonistic "rivalry" with Forest that costs them a productive working relationship in terms of loans etc.... and here we are. It's sad to see such an historic club brought to its knees, but it's hard to argue they don't absolutely deserve it.

They were in the old Division One in the 80s!

They were relegated out of the top division in 1992, the last season before the Premier League started.

Why are Nottingham Forest now claiming to be the new oldest Football League club? Forest were formed in 1865. Stoke City were around from 1863.

Because the 1863 date is disputed and not widely accepted. 1868 is the more likely date.

I went to the game that saw them relegated v Sheff Utd.

The next home game they beat Luton to relegate them, neither have been back up since. Wasn't that the last season of the First Division?
