All I will say on the subject is after watching him in the last two home games I can only remember him catching one cross. I’m with Craig on this one, wouldn’t surprise me if he fetched the young lad back from Cleethorpes.

Hence the ironic cheer when he did catch it.  The guy next to me said that the sarcastic cheer would really dent his confidence.  Not nice but a lot of fans were not impressed with his performance.  I hope it was just a glitch.

Okay the lad was very poor but let us not forget if Willis hadn't been such a dick head at Darlington the lad would't have been playing anyway, Same goes for our centre half however the lad from Salford is way much better.

Right my first reaction was straight after the game, now after watching the highlights I haven't really changed my mind. I can't see any foul by the Brackley player on the keeper with our man just flapping around. At the time the referee just stood watching after the ball went in the net - almost as if he was looking for a reason not to give the goal but there was none and very little protest came from our players. The second, it was not his fault that the ball travelled as far as it did towards the goal but again his reaction when it came back off the woodwork was a half hearted swat before their man finished it off. For the third I was standing behind the player who took the shot and although a Boston defender was blocking a clear view of the ball it did go straight through him. If that were not enough he never looked confident all night and when he did come from the ball he seldom made a clean punch of the ball. Just looking at the other United defenders, they looked totally pissed off with him.

That said, yes not many of the team came out with much credit, in particular Thanoj gifted possession a number of times in dangerous positions. But it is the nature of the position of goalkeeper that mistakes are usually more highlighted and cost more. But we are where we are and Willis is not available for Saturday. Craig is not normally slow to deal with a problem but I am not sure we can recall the lad from Cleethorpes. So who thinks we should stick with Malkowski or look elsewhere even for one game. I know what I would do.

Wasn't we all against Willis  a while ago, but now it seems he can do no wrong, if we are going to go by mistakes and not coming for crosses, Willis would have gone long ago.
The new keeper has a bad game, even though as l said earlier in this thread, how many games has he had to gel with his defence.
Surely you can't just get rid of a keeper just over one bad game, l think a reality check is needed here.
I agree with OXO if Willis hadn't got himself sent off for a needless challenge, the new keeper would still be getting to know his new teammates on and off the field.
Stick with him, he wasn't chosen to represent his country for being useless.

Still not convinced at by Willis at all.

Over the years we have been blessed with some very good goal keepers , but the last decent one was Bazzer in my opinion.

Keeping is a specialised position and making use of a specialist scout may be money well spent before we get any more dodgy ones.

Sorry chubbs I’m with southender on this one, not playing regularly is no excuse for not being able to jump and catch a ball (which I have only seen him do once in two games). He does not command his six yard area and rarely collects any loose balls in the said area. The one thing that troubled me at the start of the season was the goal keeping position and I am still troubled.

My concern is that tomorrow's game is very winnable and I would hate for us to be undone by very dodgy goalkeeping we saw on Tuesday. If however he plays and saves a penalty in the 88th minute with the score at 0-0 and then goes up the other other end and scores with a diving header from a corner to win the game 1-0 deep into injury time I PROMISE to come on here and eat vast quantities of humble pie!

going up for a corner at 0-0.....now that would be dodgy keeping!

It's no surprise from me that the jury comes out after one game and condemns a player here at Boston. It's just the way it is with so many specialists in tactics, formations and individual players capabilities. We are blessed with such skills on the terraces  ::)  ;)
Joking apart, just how many games do you give a player to prove themselves ?

I am a believer in first impressions, and on that count, his start hasn't been great. However, it does take time to settle in sometimes, and everybody can have a bad day at the office. Let's not forget it's not that long since we had a keeper warming up in a t shirt that said "I used to be shite, but now I'm a!right"! Oxo is right though that if GW hadn't been a dick at Darlo, then SM might not have even played. He's got a game today to redeem himself, so let's give him that chance. One thing for sure though, is CE will not hang onto him for too long if he isn't up to the job. The revolving door is always open....

Trouble is it's about time the revolving door stopped and we got a settled team. The top sides have a settled team only bringing people in when absolutely necessary.
The major signing of players should be done pre season and not just to make numbers up.

Correct H56 ,  no good lubricating the revolving door if you do not bring better players in .

I agree with H52 too, remember a manager not so long ago got slated for being a 'tinkerman' with the revolving door, now seemingly, its acceptable, lol. We need a settled side from now on in.
