Well I said I would report back this week so here we go. First of all all you moaners who castigated our loan signings using phrases such as crap and out of their depth on the last match thread GET STUFFED!. Again the first half was poor but by both teams with not a single shot from either team. At the begining of the second half Norris pushed forward just behind the front line with Abbot dropping to play the holding role, this seemed to liven things up and led to an excellent goal from Nicky Walker, but it was the early introduction of the two Grimsby lads that turned the game. Akheem had no right to win the ball in their box but went in with everything where it really hurts got it and rifled it in for a great goal. The young lad then beat two or three before stroking it in to the bottom corner again a lovely goal to seal it. So what was the difference between today and last week? Simple really, in the second half they got stuck in with total commitment, playing for each other and closing the opposition down immediately they received the ball. Nobody had stinker today but must mention Smithy who held up the ball well and the little nod on for Nicky's goal was quality.    UTP.

And to think, most of our moaners/wannabe managers said Smith was useless and not good enough for this team ! I am pleased none of them will ever get a chance to do Craig's job !, lol.

Nearly everyone moaned last week, and the two Grimsby lads were poor against Peterborough Sports, so nothing will change that fact.
They are obviously impact players at the moment and not starters.
But this may have been there last game for us anyway, we hope not, but that's up to Grimsby and them.
Two weeks without a game now, let's hope Thanoj can get fit again, and l wouldn't bet against seeing a couple of permanent departures.

Everybody were poor against Peterborough the thing that annoys me is people using the word crap about a promising young lad.

Who was that then, as l have just read back through my posts and l certainly did not, the word l choose to use was poor.
If they were crap they would not be at Grimsby, l think they both are very capable but sadly were in a poor performing team last week.

Gregg Smith is 100% Boston

Very harshly treated. Big names like Margetts and Arnold bought in to replace him. But they've not done. Is as they're just taking the money. Both are a massive waste of cash. Much better off with people who want to play for the club not dollar chasers

Hopefully CE will learn from this and recruit accordingly rather than getting star struck by 'big names' who don't give a toss who they represent

Well done yesterday. Pleased for Gregg who would never have left York St if he'd been treated properly in the first place. Prove em wrong Gregg!

We'll said.
We need robust players in this league and he fits the bill.

Don’t think he was treated badly, he wanted a starting place and the manager couldn’t guarantee it, went to Brackley and obviously they couldn’t either. Let’s hope it works out for him because you can’t doubt his commitment and effort.

I was there with my camera so there's the usual public Facebook photo album of the game:

And a few snaps on the website for those that don't do Facebook:

Really glad to see the big fella back!! This guy so wants to do it for us. Is he a starter or impact sub?? I've said it a few times and Smithy is an absolute nightmare for opposing defenders. If we get it into the box with a bit of quality he will destroy. Also if he can get his hold up play going (nobody's gonna knock him off the ball). Just got a feeling this is his time.

Good to see we're represented in the Vanarama team of the week again. Well done Brad Abbott.

Abbot is a quality player. Oxo called him a liability in his summing up of the PSL match but you can tell he's class. Both him and Thanoj are very good players at this level.

In my opinion Abbott is one of those most guilty of being very inconsistent, on his day he can be decent but doesn't have enough good days.
