best team over the years
« on: August 26, 2018, 03:08:52 PM »
Sat here on a wet Sunday afternoon thinking about who I would choose as my best team from our players past and present. Here are my ideas would be interesting to see others ideas

Malc White, John Larkin, Steve Thompson, Dave Adamson, Arthur Mann, John Flanagan Peter Costello, Jim Smith, Stuart Hamill , John Froggatt and Bobby Svarc.

Subs. Gerry Stewart (GK) Martin Hardy, Billy Howells, Neil Callery and Chris Cooke.

With all these at there prime think would have walked our league.

A few years ago my son asked me exactly that question. I go back to the mid 70's, so I ended up with 22 players, a squad rather than a team. I did pick some players based on their career credentials, not just Pilgrims ones, but here are those that have stuck in my mind...
McKenna, Bastock, Adamson, Casey, Mann, Jelleyman, Thompson, Hardy, Fee, Ellender, Costello, Noble, Hartford, Gascoigne,  Mike Marsh, Ross, Hamill, Gilbert, Cook, Kirk, Gary Jones, Lumby.
He who would valiant be , 'gainst all disaster.
Let him in constancy follow the master.
There's no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent, to be a Pilgrim.

agreed, he could easily be included
