Durham?

With KL gone, does this mean that Durham will stay up if they fulfil their fixtures?

Not yet. There are usually four teams relegated from the Unibond Premier, so with Newcastle Blue Star and now King's Lynn gone that still leaves two relegation places. Burscough appear to be in trouble though so Durham may still escape relegation if Burscough and one other team fold or break ground grading rules or some other rule.

My understanding is that Retfords ground is yet to meet standards so they could be denied promotion and relegated if what I have read somewhere (and no idea where?) is true ala Lairds last year.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

So if the league table finishes as it is now, does that mean we would go up automatically?

Unfortunately not. With King's Lynn gone we would be in third place behind Retford and Bradford, so even if Retford were denied promotion over their ground, Bradford would be ahead of us (same points and goal difference but they've scored more goals).

When Retford won Unibond Division One South in 2007/8 but were denied promotion because of their ground, second-placed Cammell Laird went up automatically and the next four competed for the play-offs (won by Nantwich). Presumably, the same logic would apply again if Retford win the league this time and can't go up.

Putting aside how King's Lynn fans must be feeling and the clear financial impact their demise will have on us - just looking at matters on the pitch, if King's Lynn's results are expunged then that's not great news for us. Because they were doing so well, most teams are going to get a game back on us and improved goal difference. For example, Bradford move above us on GD and have two games in hand on us rather than one!
