Spennymoor match now at Harrogate!
« on: April 09, 2018, 12:44:02 PM »
The club website is now reporting that Tuesday evening's match at Spennymoor has been switched to Harrogate as Spennymoor's pitch is currently unplayable!

Here are the details from the website.

Boston United's Vanarama National League North fixture against Spennymoor Town on Tuesday evening will now take place at Harrogate Town.

The CNG Stadium encounter will kick-off at 7.45pm.

A full statement has been issued by Spennymoor Town:

"Unfortunately, due to The Brewery Field pitch failing a pitch inspection on Sunday afternoon, the league have instructed us that we must play our home games against Boston United and Brackley Town at another venue, with Harrogate Town's CNG Stadium being the chosen stadium.

"The pitch was required to pass its inspection in order for both Tuesday's game against Boston United and Thursday's clash with Brackley Town to be played at The Brewery Field, but after a FA appointed match official deemed it unplayable, the club has been forced to act quickly.

"Attempts to secure a venue more local were made, but with Gateshead, Hartlepool and Darlington unavailable, and other North East grounds not up to grading standards, the closest option which met the criteria was Harrogate Town's CNG Stadium.

"We would like to apologise to supporters for the inconvenience caused but would like to reiterate that the decision made was not our own.

"We would also like to thank Harrogate Town for allowing us to use their facilities."

Could you get a lift up to Darlington afterwards on the Spennymoor bus? (assuming it doesn't break down).

It's about time the league took action over there pitch and postponements,it seems that there pitch had been an issue for some considerable time, not just this season.
They should be told if there pitch is not playable due to there poor maitanance and qaulity of drainage and turf.
They should simply be made to forfeit the game and the points awarded to the away team.
They had the bus incident earlier this season which was an absolute disgrace, which they clearly got away with.
It seems to me that they use these tactics to there advantage, i.e not playing teams when the opposition is on a good run.
I think as a punishment they should be made to play back to back fixtures to catch up, and they should easily cope with that with having played so fewer games than anyone else xx

How the hell can this be sanctioned by them muppets at the FA,
I was going and stopping near Spennymoor overnight before 2 day break in
Sunny Scotland that’s fcuked that idea.

Ironic how it’s at Harrogate when their pitch was crap and loads of games called off before they laid one off then artificial green things down.

Sent another email regards Spennymoor to the FA, suppose they won’t reply again.

Not happy.

Valid points Chubbs. Guess it just adds to the mix that their coach mysteriously broke down for our proposed home fixture against them early season. Maybe the issue was with the two suspensions & injuries they had. Probably all just an organised coincidence??

A neutral venue removes home advantage. Let's hope this works in our favour on the pitch tonight.

At least get the right body... it's a Conference (National League) decision.

Sorry for Gary and Josh and any others  having their plans ruined .  Blyth Spartans match is off tonight which vindicates the National League's decision to move the game to Harrogate.
Where they did get it wrong was admitting a club with a ground not up to the expected standards of this league .

Yes GHM you are bloody correct, they should not have been admitted, this is not a new thing for them, the pitch has been a problem for some time now.
It seems to me that this league league will admit anyone, without doing there due diligence.

First of All couldn't get away from work in time to make BUSA coach. Think we will do on on that pitch tonight, will suit how we been playing. The CN has a chequered history when deeming clubs pitches appropriate 4 this league?? Tamworth played on a ploughed field ( even in Conf). Harrogate also had shocking pitch & first rain, frost , snow & games off! Darlington s pitch is rank along with tonight's illustrious opponents. To be fair York st was poor last season & AM maintained it was impossible to keep the ball on the deck? In that period I think Chorley in the Feb was the only game we lost, but wasn't it them that swayed ref 2 call it off bout 1.30pm! Yes FA, deffo these pitches need 2 b able to entertain games throughout the season, just like the grounds have to meet all sorts of criteria re: acceptance into CN. Good luck 2nite Boys. Safe journeys 2 all Pilgrims. YABA.

The match at Harrogate is under way and it's foggy!   If Spennymoor are losing at half-time no doubt they will pressurise the officials to abandon it.   >:(
United we stand..................

A decent point away from home then, or do we think differently to that .

Excellent point tonight, wasn't there but sounds like we could have taken all 3. When I looked at these 2 tough fixtures not that far back I feared these 2 away games would probably seal our relegation. So 4 PTS from these long trips in 3 days has got to be xcellent!! We were down & out last November. Our form since Craig came in is overwhelmingly play off form. So great point tonight & 3 beauties last Saturday. We've beaten alot of really good sides above us. Get 3 more on Saturday & a shout at that 7th place could be a reality?
