Looking up at last
« on: January 07, 2018, 07:04:03 PM »
For the first time this season we are looking up the table instead of down.  All very tight around us in the league and our record is virtually identical to FCUM and almost as good as Tamworth.  In our next scheduled league match all 3 of us are matched against teams 8 places above us.
United we stand..................

The next series of games will be really interesting. We’ve clearly improved massively, but to be brutally honest all our recent wins have come against relatively poor or off form sides.  Thats not to diminish those results, as we were losing those kind of games previously. But the games against Spennymoor and Blyth will be serious tests. These games will give an indication of what kind of standard we are at now. If we can come away with anything from those games then we can start seriously considering a play off push I think.

in the last 6 games we have earned as many points as we did in the previous 19 games. What a great turn around. There's some tough games to come, but as you say, a number of them are against teams just above us. But we could still genuinely edge into the play-off picture if we maintain the current trend. On the flip side, we are only 4 points from reaching the tally that Gainsborough survived relegation with last year! UTP

I think the visit of Blyth will be the stiffest test since CE joined the Club .

Harrogate away?
.

We had a much different team then at the start of Craig's tenure.
I would fancy our chances now though against them, nobody would want to play us now if they are struggling with form.

I agree with you youngchubby but since CE took over, that was the stiffest test.  Today was the stiffest since he has put his team together

Gainsborough did us a favour Tuesday by beating Chorley.  We are now only 2 points behind them and Stockport with a game in hand.

A few weeks ago we would have been disappointed if Trinity had got the 3 points. How things can change so quickly.

Although we didn't play today the other results were good for us.
Blyth and FCUM both lost.  York and Tamworth both dropped 2 points.

Was about to post the same. If we get 3 points from the game in hand we are right in the mix.

Isn't it great? Just before Xmas we were anxiously looking where we might scrape a win to get away from the relegation zone. Now there's serious play-off talk.
Up The Pilgrims!
