Today V Tamworth
« on: January 06, 2018, 06:24:12 PM »
Thought the keeper did well for his first game, came and collected when needed, blocked when with his chest after it bounced at him (surprising when you think how much water the pitch has had recently) and can kick with either foot. No blame on him for their goal, he shouted for the back pass but, for reasons only hare will know, Hare turned back into trouble and lost out to two players. Always play the way you are facing was what I was told as a defender but guess some of it may be down to lack of game time.

First half we lost every second ball, second half we were more competitive and won the majority of them and used the wings more. The penalty was a stonewaller, defender missed with his right so took Reece out with his left catching him about halfway between ankle and knee.

There is a real belief amongst the players now and a togetherness, think AM put too much pressure on them with too many instructions whereas CE just gives simple instructions, ball (A) goes into goal (B) easy ain't it :D

Thought the Town End took a while to get behind the team but once they did the team responded well. 16 from 18 is title winning form and now we are 7 points off the playoffs who knows what will happen between now and April.

All in all a deserved win and onwards and upwards :)

Very impressed today, Hemmings and Rollins were on a different level today, and Greg looks much quicker now.
Everyone put in a cracking shift today.
Tamworth were made to look poor, and they are better than that.
What really impressed me today was the tactics, Craig brought Greg on and Tamworth automatically set up for us to go route one through him, but we then did the opposite and stuck it down the wing's were the space was.
Very clever Mr Elliott, suck the defence in narrow then exploit the space in behind.
Tactics at last, how good is that.
We'll done to everyone.

Since the arrival of CE Hemmings keeps on improving every match .

Yeah you are right about the tactics when GS came on, if only he had a second gear.

How did the lino miss that blatant foul on Reece when it was straight in front of him? LOL

It has been a while since I have felt confident about playing the money men/top 7 teams but we seem to fear no one at the moment.

What about a front 4 of Hemmings, Thompson, Rollins, and Tshimanga now THAT would give some defenses nightmares :D

We're starting to look really good. I see the new keeper has played at York Street before - for Swindon against Boston when we were in the FL.

Any idea where Brogan and Walker were today ? I can't see Hare having a long run in the team - was probably our weakest link today.

Brogan was injured and I Walker was dropped for the new CB.

It wasn't without fault, but I thought it could have been our best overall performance this season. Really impressed with the front line, especially Thompson's work ethic. He never stops and constantly gets under the skin of opposition defences. I think Thanoj and Abbott are building a seriously good partnership. They seem to know where each other are automatically. And but for a momentary glitch by Keane, we looked reasonably solid at the back. Great stuff all round, and the curse of Manager of the Month failed!

Incredible run by the side since CE became manager. Unquestionably the form team in the Division right now.
Alan Partridge: "I bet I've got more friends than you've got cows. How many cows have you got?"
Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"
