I’ve got a black and white photo which I took at that away match at Mossley showing Bobby Brown, if I remember right the pitch was on top of a hill in Mossley between Hyde and Stalybridge, We travelled over via Woodhead From Sheffield to get to Mossley, that was in the days before the M62 was built , Also remember travelling to Canal Street Runcorn for a FA Trophy match, and when we arrived there the match was called off by the referee because the pitch was waterlogged.

Looks if there were 2 Fidlers playing for Macc around that time .
Denis Fidler appeared in that 1968 YorkSt match , and appeared to retire in 1973 .
Brian Fidler played for BUFC  74/75

Were they both hard nuts Ted.
But many were in those days,I grew up in a little farming village in the fens, a place called Gedney Drove End.
I remember the football teams they had down there, real hard men.
I cut my footballing teeth down there as many young lads did, when you went down they chucked a wet sponge on your affected part, and said "get up boy and run it off,  yo be right".
They had 3 teams down there, and they had a moto above the changing room door that read, " If it moves above the grass kick it, and if it doesn't kick it until it does"
Sadly they don't have a team that plays there anymore or any facilities.
Loved every minute playing there, even the painful one's.

Well if Lee gets the job, the tactics will no doubt be atttack attack attack, and a little a bit of defence.

Lee Thompson is an intelligent guy. Would be a popular appointment.
Alan Partridge: "I bet I've got more friends than you've got cows. How many cows have you got?"
Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"

nothing to do with credentials, but he scored the Pilgrims' only ever football league hat trick away at Darlington. Otherwise, he's mid thirties, ex-midfielder, and only approx 5'6, so he fits the criteria almost perfectly. The only missing quality is he's from Sheffield not the east midlands, so midweek training might need moving north a few miles?

I'd give him a few more games at least. It's a difficult one though. His first two games have shown a more balanced approach to the back and front lines, rather than the defensive stack we've seen with AM, but up front, it's an elusive search for regular goals and a settled line, but then it has been all season. The quicker a decision is made, then the more chance the new nan has got to climb up the table, but KH knows the team already, so there's no "bedding in" period if he was chosen, which should be an advantage to consistency. Admittedly, the current side has got plenty of weaknesses, wholesale change (like last year) won't help either.

Andy Kirk scored 3 at Kidderminster, past a future England international goalkeeper.
