Willis and Beatson
« on: May 19, 2017, 07:54:08 PM »
Signed from Trinity for a fee

Willis decent(ish) keeper but a little on small side.

Beatson played left back for us, but is nominally a centre half. Young and has potential, but not outstanding IMHO

Both were offered terms to stay here, but have had better offers from BUFC

Time will tell, let's hope the reality is better than the picture you paint, Steelihat. After all, you guys have had a season very similar to ourselves. Each had many low points, and new managers who kept our sides up now have to prove themselves. I'm not sure that trading unwanted players is going to be any good for either if us.

Our manager was given a hospital pass when he came here - top ten to play, and disillusioned players.
He has turned it around (only just) But the players have responded to him. He wanted to keep them both, so perhaps he can see more.
The unwanted players are the ones difficult to shift

Just pleased to get some signings in, been getting worried.
Let's see how they get on but welcome to them both.

I'd argue that Bateson is better at left back than Storey who replaced him. He was only signed as they knew he was leaving

Willis is no better than Ross was.

Saw him in both games v us last season. Noticed he's commanding & no nonsense which Ross wasn't. He was at fault for Jays goal at gboro but also made a stunning save from Hilliard near the end.

Michael Emery rates him as "one of the best in the league - the full package". Welcome on board George  hope your BUFC career is long & successful!

Tom & Jerry you post referring to George Willis "someone who it is reported laughed at Gregg's broken leg".

Who reported this? I didn't see any of our players react to him in any way. I was standing in our largest section of support looking right onto the incident & no one said anything in reference to Willis laughing.

Surely our players would have reacted at the time & he would have been castigated after the game.

It's a pretty serious allegation to make, although it sounds like you may have heard it from someone else? It may or may not be true?

Did anyone else see the "reported" laughing at Gregg's injury?

I said it on the day. I was stood immediately behind the goal right at the front and watched the keeper's reaction from about 10 feet away. I am 100% certain of what I saw, however serious or otherwise you consider the allegation is. The other players didn't react to the keeper as they were (rightly) more concerned with Gregg's welfare.

Bazza went through the same treatment from the Barrow fans a good few years back after allegedly laughing at one of their players getting injured. I was at Barrow the Tuesday night when he had to have a police escort of the pitch and to the bus. Let's not be to quick to judge the lad I'm sure AM would have been aware of any ill feeling from within the camp and would not have signed him if that was the case.

I'm sure that if there is any ill feeling, then Gregg strikes me as big and bad enough to sort it himself. Still doesn't change my opinion of what I witnessed.

The feelings will change when he pulls off some great saves, and if it bothers you that much then why don't you ask the lad if he did laugh at him.

i have no need to ask if he did.  I SAM HIM do it from 10 feet away. The bloke has low morals, and I will NOT change my opinion of what I saw. That stands whatever his performances may or may not be in the future.

For all we know, he may have been to see Gregg in hospital, and apologised. Without knowing the FULL story, you cannot judge.
