NINE GAMES TO GO .
« on: March 14, 2017, 02:11:14 PM »
Nine more games to complete the season .

POINTS return over the last nine games 7 points . (6 of the games at home )

On this form we will finish on 42 points which means relegation most seasons .

Over a season this form would give us a return of 34 points .....certain relegation .

Just a question, if the unthinkable happens and we go down, do you think it will be a total disaster or a chance to rebuild the squad, get winning again and come back up, with a winning mentality and that would then give us momentum again.
I know that is what happened last time under Hurst and Scott, and if they had stayed I think we would have been in the conference now.
Its just a thought and I don't think it would make a massive difference on gates.

You say it like it's 100% guaranteed we come back up, if we go down...

They are the size of teams we could be in playing, most of them have hit hard times. There's no guarantee we would get back up. I would rather by be playing Halifax, Kidderminster, FC United etc etc the Unibond was a grim time

Yes we must not take things for granted ,   remember last time it took two seasons to get promoted and then it was via the play-offs .

I am getting more and more concerned Pete. 3 of our games are very tough and the games coming
up against Worcester Alfreton and Telford are now crucial.

We must not lose to sides below us in the league, and it seems to me we are desperately hoping sides below us lose or draw their games as I cannot see us getting too many more points.

I have unfortunately not been able to see any games this year despite having a season ticket
so cannot comment on any of the players, but my first reaction when the chairman appointed Adam Murray was that it was a very good move. I just hope that we can stay in this league and give him a proper chance to build his own team pre season. It must have been a very difficult job trying to pick up the shambles that Greene left, so good luck to him and the team. At least Staly did us a favour last night.

I have seen all the home games and the steady decline over the season, you are right dt  our hopes rest on other team below continuing losing .

Agree lets give the manager a chance ,  judge him on his managerial skills , not on social media involvement .   It may be a long time before we get 3 top 6 finishes in consecutive seasons .

Many are concerned Adam has failed to  improve the existing players and has not strengthened the team by making poor signings hence the present  slide .   Concerning that the best performers most games are Greene signings .

I wouldn't for one moment suggest that we would come straight back up,if we got relegated.
That would be an insult to the clubs already in that league, I was just pointing out that in the past,we came up into this league with a winning mentally and carried on in good form to the end of the season.
Do not want us to go down, that would be a disaster for us all.

Said this before

I don't do doom and gloom either but I am a little concerned. 42 points should thankfully be be enough to stay in the league as Alty, Staylbridge and Worcester are poor. So 7 more points needed, Alty and Telford, maybe Gloucester  at home, Worcester, Alfreton and Curzon  away are games we should get something from but I can't see anything other than defeats coming at the other 5 games. Still some work to do

Certainly is still work to do, and I'm getting a bit jittery especially as we've just lost our easiest game of them all.

The bottom two are too far behind.  I can't see where Gainsborough and Worcester are going to get 6 points in their last 9 games as they have a worse current form table than us?

That said, a few points on the board wouldn't go amiss.

Makes me sad that our once great first team won't be sure at which level of regional non-league football they will be playing next season. We are Boston United and the infrastructure and support for our club is crying out that we play National League (Conference) as a minimum.
Alan Partridge: "I bet I've got more friends than you've got cows. How many cows have you got?"
Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"

After 70 years of supporting the Pilgrims in saddens me to dispute your claim BB .

At least 8/9 clubs would rightly claim they have a better case to National League than us .

The supporters who think we have a right to higher league football have not kept pace with the movement in non-league football .

Instead of dispatching vitriol at a succession of managers they should take stock and realise that a top six finish in this league  is commendable .
Hope one of these people present facts prove me wrong .

Personally, I think Conf North is about the right level for us at the moment.
