I have been fighting our corner on their Facebook page, apparently they have done this twice before, and both times they would have had to field weaker teams, funny that!!
They were even suggesting that Boston should compensate Chorley fans.
They even think that we have no chance of reporting them to the FA or league.
This is all a blatant cheating tactic that they have done before.m
But one thing is for sure, their manager has no respect for Chorley fans or anyone else.
A complete and totally self conceited dick.
Just thought I'd come back to you on this - I have seen your messages on the Chorley Facebook page, and it is understandable that you have been influenced by the posts by a Stafford fan.
However I wanted to explain that the club has not done this twice before. The first match in question was an FA Trophy game where the pitch at Chorley was iced up and we wanted to give as much chance as possible for it to thaw. Bearing in mind that Stafford is only an hour or so from Chorley, we called for a local ref to come to the ground around lunchtime and he called the game off. The Stafford fans and players turned up at a similar time to the referee; some 2.5 hours before kick off.
Knowing the weather conditions, had they planned to set off at a later time, they could have been informed that the game was called off and avoided the travel.
I don't know where the Stafford fan thinks the second example comes from - the rearranged game was set for the following Tuesday evening, and the game was called off mid afternoon as there had been no increase in temperature and the pitch was still icy in the shadow of the main stand. Stafford was informed and so avoided setting off.
It is ridiculous to suggest that Chorley would call off matches to avoid fielding weaker teams - both by the Stafford fan and by a number of Boston fans. We have a long term injury to Jason Walker and Sefton Gonzales has left the club. But we have a fully fit Marcus Carver and also the back up of a member of our Development Squad. This has been the same for the previous two matches where we beat a good Brackley side at their ground and were narrowly defeated by a rejuvenated Halifax Town away in midweek. Its not ideal, but one thing the club would not resort to is the 'blatant cheating tactic' which you suggest we have done before
