Chorley have added a statement to their website. It makes interesting reading when compared with the report on the Boston Standard website.

Chorley Football Club
Quote
by 2pm the goal area at the York Street end of the stadium had started to harden to the point that it was becoming dangerous and would only get worse and the only course of action with player safety in mind was to postpone the game.

Boston Standard
Quote
The National League North contest against Chorley did not go ahead due to some frozen patches of turf along the Spayne Road side of the Jakemans Stadium.

So was it the York Street goal that was frozen? Or was it the flank along the Spayne Road Side? I find it hard to understand how different media outlets can't get their stories straight between them - it just seems to raise even more questions around how yesterday's game came to be postponed.

I think might be a decision that Chorley regret, all it has done is give Adam more time too get his squad together and strengthen it considerably.
Chorley will now have to come on a Tuesday night which won't suit them with the travelling etc.
The Boston fans will be fired up for it,as we all know that Chorley backed out deliberately because they didn't have any strikers.
So bring it on, and we will all be having a great laugh at their expense.

Chorley statement completely flawed ,   with above freezing temp and the sun on the YS goalmouth how could the pitch start to harden in that area .

Goalmouths aren't usually the problem though are they at YS???
surely the Spayne Lane side is the worst as it gets minimal sunshine in winter
Goalmouths had started to harden and by 2pm it was unfit..... didn't they only arrive at 2pm so how would they know this?

the answer is simple Josh, Chorley for whatever reason saw an excuse to not play and made sure that happened. I've no doubt we will never know the real truth why, maybe their keeper went sick or something? You never know. There must have been a reason for their decision, as they've been on a good run, and I would have thought they would have been keen to continue the form against a team that they would see as beatable at the minute. Never mind, it will be a rearrange on a Tuesday night, and we win every time we play on a Tuesday!!!!!

Wonder if the referee was from Manchester area  by any chance??

I Googled his name and the only one I could find was from Rochdale, close enough lol

Yeah that's him and he will get paid his expenses and match fee.

I believe he only gets half the match fee, but expenses included.

Regarding other local games being on, they don't have stands that shade the pitch - Spayne Road has always been the last area to thaw - but on this occasion, it seems a stupid decision for the referee to call it off - seemingly under pressure from the visitors.

IF as Chorley say the pitch was frozen AND safety of players was paramount then why did they then proceed to pass and shoot into the YS goal whilst laughing and joking? Surely if it were that bad then the little darlings should have been escorted back to the coach and given a warm drink and a cuddle?

As AM stated,he,the players and the ref were all for the match taking place but bet the ref won't tell the FA that when he sends his report in.This stinks more than a stinky thing that stinks Baldrick.

I have been fighting our corner on their Facebook page, apparently they have done this twice before, and both times they would have had to field weaker teams, funny that!!
They were even suggesting that Boston should compensate Chorley fans.
They even think that we have no chance of reporting them to the FA or league.
This is all a blatant cheating tactic that they have done before.m
But one thing is for sure, their manager has no respect for Chorley fans or anyone else.
A complete and totally self conceited dick.

Just thought I'd come back to you on this - I have seen your messages on the Chorley Facebook page, and it is understandable that you have been influenced by the posts by a Stafford fan.

However I wanted to explain that the club has not done this twice before.  The first match in question was an FA Trophy game where the pitch at Chorley was iced up and we wanted to give as much chance as possible for it to thaw.  Bearing in mind that Stafford is only an hour or so from Chorley, we called for a local ref to come to the ground around lunchtime and he called the game off.  The Stafford fans and players turned up at a similar time to the referee; some 2.5 hours before kick off.
Knowing the weather conditions, had they planned to set off at a later time, they could have been informed that the game was called off and avoided the travel.

I don't know where the Stafford fan thinks the second example comes from - the rearranged game was set for the following Tuesday evening, and the game was called off mid afternoon as there had been no increase in temperature and the pitch was still icy in the shadow of the main stand.  Stafford was informed and so avoided setting off.

It is ridiculous to suggest that Chorley would call off matches to avoid fielding weaker teams - both by the Stafford fan and by a number of Boston fans.  We have a long term injury to Jason Walker and Sefton Gonzales has left the club.  But we have a fully fit Marcus Carver and also the back up of a member of our Development Squad.  This has been the same for the previous two matches where we beat a good Brackley side at their ground and were narrowly defeated by a rejuvenated Halifax Town away in midweek.  Its not ideal, but one thing the club would not resort to is the 'blatant cheating tactic' which you suggest we have done before

The players were heard saying they did not want to play, ground unfit and not just by one person, quite a few heard it hence the posts about them saying no after Boston AND the TWO referees said it was playable.

Your Club Secretary confirmed in a tweet yesterday that 'We had a local referee pass it at 10.00am.  The match referee arrived at 1.15pm and had issues with one or two patches'
That suggests to be that the match ref had concerns 45 minutes before the Chorley team arrived.
If he had concerns, he should have made a decision there and then.
It is the ref who calls off the game, not either of the managers.

Apparently the pitch was ok with trainers, but once players put their boots on, concerns were raised about the safety of parts of the playing surface.

Thanks for the guess, but I'm not Mr Jansen.  I'm a Chorley fan who sees Boston as a second team in the league - my grandparents lived in Boston and my Dad used to watch the Pilgrims as a young lad.  I also come to Boston games where possible - went to Fylde last season and Stalybridge a few weeks ago.

Can't believe Chorley were arriving so late at the ground. Even in the UCL in my playing days we were always on site 90 minutes before kick off.

See the re-arranged fixture is now 14th Feb. Let's hope there's no excuses next time.

I came on the Supporters' Coach which set off at 10.30 - from what I understand the Team Coach were waiting for the outcome of the initial referee's pitch inspection at 10am before setting off.  We got a message at 10.20 that they got the goahead and set off for Boston.  It's a 3.5 hour journey and we got caught up on the A1 behind a wide load, and assume the Team coach did as well - this would explain them arriving just before 2pm.
And I hope the rearranged match goes ahead and the ref is strong enough in his own convictions to make a decision for himself if there are potential issues
