You also have to feel sorry for the caterers this afternoon. When this sort of thing happens, what exactly are they supposed to do with all of the pies, pasties and burgers that they've got in and already started cooking?

They would be fine as long as the chief pie eater hasn't been loaned out.

Doh.  ;D

Long way to go for a few beers
Farcical if it's true that they didn't fancy it. AM seemed to be pinning the blame at their door on the radio, but then the ref has to take the rap too, he's got to have the bottle to decide on his own if it goes ahead or not, not ask the sides what they think of it

As soon as it was called off someone came to me and said their players and management had moaned at the ref so he called it off, that was 2pm so AM is probably right in what he said.  It did surprise me how at 10am it was passed fit then four hours later after the sun had been on the pitch it was declared unplayable... Their players were smiling and laughing on the way to the lounge, after a mini kickabout on a pitch deemed unplayable.

Skegness played, Wyberton played.......Be under no illusion that York Street WAS playable.  BUFC need to take action with The League if, as it seems, there was some yet unexplained agreement between the officials and the away side not to take the field when play was possible. Disgusted. We should demand a token 3-0 win from the League and some compensation for the food and drink retailers who were denied a reasonable income today.

Farmer: "I've got 100 cows."
AP: "Well, I've got 104 friends!"

I have been fighting our corner on their Facebook page, apparently they have done this twice before, and both times they would have had to field weaker teams, funny that!!
They were even suggesting that Boston should compensate Chorley fans.
They even think that we have no chance of reporting them to the FA or league.
This is all a blatant cheating tactic that they have done before.m
But one thing is for sure, their manager has no respect for Chorley fans or anyone else.
A complete and totally self conceited dick.

But on the bright side, it gives Adam a chance to get some more players in, and for Brodie to have some training sessions with the rest of the team.
Does anyone have any updates on how the injured players are coming along.

On reaching the ground heard exactly the same regarding Chorley not being up for it. If this is true, totally unacceptable. From what I understand all local fixtures in the Boston and District Saturday league also went ahead.

This gets worse.....
Done it before when possibly having to field a weakened team?
Local ref said earlier it was OK to play. ......
Manager convinces ref it's NOT ok.......
Ref relatively local to them.......
IT was 5c at kick off time...sun was shining weather good.
It was so nice I  never bothered to check if it was on as it wasn't a problem.
Something not sitting right here me thinks....,

(I ended up watching Leverton beat Coningsby  6 4....yet another game that wasn't postponed)

i understand there was about 25% of the pitch that was hard but the rest was soft. the lads trained on the 75% for an hour without problems but, whilst frustrating, maybe the local ref could have sought a second opinion

from what i hear it would have been 'proceed with caution' on the icy but which may have been dangerous

disappointing though it is, caution is the best option when it's careers we're talking about. as for chorley's part in it, i hear they weren't up for it but let's just hope that, by the time we do play them, that the manager has continued to improve our side, bought a few more in and we send them back north on a tuesday night with nothing eh?

onward and upward. a winable game coming up so let's focus on that. looking forward to bradford

As part of my outing on match Saturdays is also to see my elderly parents, I didn't have an entirely wasted trip - but I do feel for those who didn't have another reason for driving some distance. I think what annoys me most is that there was no indication of a pitch inspection on the official site. That would at least give some information. I can recall similar occasions in the past when we were let down at the last moment after no warning whatsoever. As another poster has already noted, there didn't seem to be any reason to suspect the match might be postponed yesterday.
