I've never been so frustrated or deflated so early on in a season in my life, it's same old same old, lets be honest since we lost to Gloucester back end of January barring that run from Easter Monday until the SF 1st Leg we've been a team in free-fall we're a week into the season and some how it feels like we're already in October-November
Sorry but the apologists need to wake up and smell the coffee the facts are yes under DG we have challenged at the top end of the table but at the same time in each of his seasons we've come in undercooked at the start of the season with the transfer merry-go-round in full affect by September continuing to wing it throughout signing players seemingly on the bases of having one game decent game against us or a scatter gun loan policy put them in our shirt for a month or so and we find out they're bang average.
We've never had a settled side and the "you score we score" mentality of his has cost us many points. We've always had a weak midfield with square pegs in round holes ala Garns, Chippendale in the middle right now despite advertised initially as a winger/striker N'Goma at CB when he's clearly not a CB at the minute hell we didn't get a solid keeper/LB until after Christmas last season, we'd be a dangerous side if we managed to do the hard work during the summer instead of leaving ourselves with a mountain to climb post Christmas and lets face we're not going to get away with it every season.
That all said there's only so many times we can get whacked 7-2 at home to Oxford, get whacked 3-0 at home by Fylde or Staylbridge or give up the ghost at home to Chorley and Brackley and brushed aside at Fylde x2. Worcester, Lowestoft, Hednesford, Workington, Leek, Darlington away from home etc and that's without mentioning letting a 2-0 lead in a Play-Off Semi-Final twice (Yes Chorley was unlucky with the over kick and all that, but for example why did we sign a player like Jake Hall during the run-in when he could only play for us X amount of times because of TV commitments lets be honest he wasn't that great of a player that we should be accommodating him) without questioning if there's a "it's in the bag" mindset coming from the management team or if they don't do the homework on players mentalit, it's all right having great players when all is going well, you have can have all the ability in the world but if when the going gets tough and you need to show a bit of steal and you're waiting for someone else to get you out of jail instead of grabbing the bull by the horns yourself you're in trouble and as I say we've been found out numerous times under DG
I had my reservations about the side which was formed during the summer and I'm afraid I've seen nothing to change my mind. I hope they can get it together an prove me wrong, but as I say I fear it'll be Christmas before we potentially get our act together and by then It'll be too late this year. Trust me this isn't a witch hunt against Dennis in fact there's been times I've stuck up for him when others wouldn't out of blind loyalty to the club more than anything, but what do I get repaid with? Being blocked on Twitter and I've seen him have several digs at people who like myself want the best for the club as a whole but like me can flaws within the current set up, what do we know though huh? We're just Joe Public who scrimp and save to follow the club home and away and to pay for our ST in hope "this is our year" each and every summer. I just don't think it'd hurt if one summer we did the hard work which a lot of our fans deserve.
I realise this has turned out to be a rather long post and to be honest not many of you will bother reading it all and I've repeated myself a bit but as I say it's more out of frustration more than anything and I won't lie I feel absolutely mugged off after today's showing.
It is a rather long post BUFC LOYAL . I have read through it and will give a needed response .
Now I have been a BUFC supporter for 70 years and by the end of the season I hope to get value for my S/T as I did last season .
I have maybe been referred to on here as a so called "apologist" . I would like to clarify that I have no contact / friendship / don,t do social events etc with manager , directors or any employee of the club .
Unlike some posters I have never played pro football or managed a p/t pro club .
My response is based on what I have observed on the pitch ( I know opinions vary ).
But my main thrust is based on a combination of logic and simple economics . I don,t do Monopoly money like CH of Ex and corrupt or badly run football clubs .
I get the gist of the lazy close season bit and lots make the same point . If you mused round other clubs forums you would see this is the way most clubs are run , even lower FL clubs . The agents (as many p/t players have ) would love you as a manager rushing to pay top wage,s and his commission in early June . To make early signings you pay top money . No good getting all the budget spent in June and only 7/8 players on the books !!!!
Now on loan signings last season from week to week DG was getting knocked for either too many, or not enough players
available (can,t please them all ). Even league clubs now rely on the loan system . most loans are to cover short term injuries . To Greene,s credit take a look at his longer term loans
Liam Agnew.
Max Styjeck
McAvoy
Joal Dixon
Liam Marrs
Justin Richards .
Add to these a selection of his permanent signings ,
Steer
Miller
Mills
Felix
Southwell
Pidge
Rollins
Spiess
Marrs
Not bad under any circumstances a batch of signings over 3 seasons .
Now lets get round to " smelling the coffee "
In January bufc I was chatting to a colleague of mine and he mentioned his son a p/t footballer had a call from a manager of a club two leagues higher than what he was playing . He turned it down because the substantial increase in salary did not "make it worth the move " Given our geographical position (a poor catchment area ) I would guess this is a response familial to Greene . Amazed how he managed to bring Rene Steer , Liam Marr and Sunderland loanee,s to Boston for such a sustained period . Must say something about his management . I also recall when Scott Garner was signed fans of former clubs Lincoln , Grimsby and Cambridge U were united in casting Scott as a bad dressing room influence . Been the opposite in his 3 years at Boston , another endorsement for Boston management .
I,m sure Greene knows better than us what player,s are required time these critic "smelled the coffee" and leave him to get on with it .
