Nuneaton vs Harrogate - what result would suit Boston best?
« on: April 11, 2016, 07:11:19 PM »

Nuneaton are at home to Harrogate tomorrow night - hopefully there'll be a strong scouting representation from Boston watching (a) our next two opponents, and (b) two of our play-off rivals. Looking at the league table I can't really decide what outcome would suit Boston best. A win for Harrogate would give us a strong hand over Nuneaton towards finishing fifth, but a win for Nuneaton would give us more of a chance of clawing back Harrogate to finish fourth or higher. Any thoughts?

It's all immaterial as long as we take care of our own results ... but hopefully it'll be a bad tempered game with Harrogate picking up niggles for Saturday and Nuneaton picking up suspensions for the week after!

Suspension start after 14 days, so won't affect our game. Injuries, maybe!

As both teams can't win, any result is good for us - but I'd say a draw then us winning the next 2 is perfect.

So maybe a straight red  or two on the Harrogate side would disrupt them going into the play offs?

Assuming a Harrogate win, this would leave us firmly in a playoff spot, with Nuneaton 4 behind, only 1 game in hand,

Assuming a nuneaton win, we are still 3 behind harrogate, with Nuneaton only 1 behind with a game in hand.

A draw leaves us 4 behind Harrogate and 3 in front of Nuneaton with a game in hand.

In all cases we still have a weaker goal diff, so surely a Harrogate win would be most beneficial?

100% Harrogate win.
Leaves our playoff destiny firmly in our own hands.

haha I wouldn't hold your breath on that, as much as I think Dennis is a great manager, from what I can see on Twitter, he's in Budapest having 'birthday celebrations' haha great that. Not like we've got two massive games coming up which decide if we get play offs or not.
Does this mean he's Hungary for success?

Who care's if the man is in Budapest for a short holiday,  we have a scout for scouting as well as assistant manager. Give him a break for crying out loud !!  You can clearly see how tensions are getting high, and who are to blame, when people will find anything to disagree with off Den's twitter account...sad, very sad !

Didn't realise this was the Dennis Greene holiday thread. The title is very misleading. Do we not all take time out of work to go on holiday or is it just me?

The thing is, DG didn't take any time off from his BUFC work, as it was between games and training.

Non-story.

Yeah that's right fair enough, must've only gone for 1 or 2 days. But I thought he'd be away for this game and ANY manager should be here to spectate a game like this, yes people take time out of work for holidays but not for a time like this hahaha. But fair enough he's not missed anything.

Also LB, who are you calling sad? Me? Ive clearly stated i think he's a good manager and thankful for the last 3 years but NO manager should ever miss a game like tonight's in these circumstances.

Nope, not at all. A sweeping statement made, not aimed at any one individual more like aimed at anyone thinking that a manager going on a holiday while we DO have a scout & assistant manager is wrong. A scouts job is indeed looking at future opponents so i don't see what the issue is here.

Yeah in my opinion, it doesn't matter at all if the manager isn't here while there's nothing on. But this close to the end of the season, if there are any chances of making our games easier to win (like tonight's game by judging opposition) then he should be here. But fair play to Dennis, he's gone on a short break and is back for tonight's match.
