Duncan watmore with the first team now they have high hope for him this season, seeing dick and lee congerton are trying to push more youth player through to the first team that's probably why max did return this season.

Well.... they were very clinical and we weren't.
The Number 9 was a class above, and the lads we loaned are clearly geared for a higher division than what we're in.
Hopefully the new keeper/left back will be confirmed and given game time ahead of next Saturday...  be somewhat crazy if we haven't nailed those 2 positions (and a striker spare) given that it's been obvious since May that was where we needed to strengthen.

Can someone explain why we are looking for a left back unless it is for cover for Liam Marrs who, in my opinion has been excellent in that position for the last three home games?

Because you need more than one player who can play in any position.

Marrs is a right-back, covering at left back. We only have 4 defenders signed at the moment, so any injuries and suspensions and we'll be moving Dixon/Roberts/Sheridan to full back with Mills to cover centre-back/left-back.

The tall centre back for Sunderland impressed me - maybe we can sort out a deal for him? Looking at their report, they had a couple of U18s in the back four... so they may be willing to loan them out?

Honestly can't see anything like that happening for some weird reason this season the club are really pushing the youth teams maybe because dick like to bring youth through , the u21 have been on fire this preseason beating everyone they played. Robbie stockdale interview said he through Boston where strong and hard to break down and the result wasn't a true refection of the game.

Agree, but if we get a specialist left back will Marrs sit on the bench as Mills seems to want to play right back?  Not many clubs will loan us a player to sit on the bench!  It's a conundrum.....who'd be a manager?

Dennis has said if we get a left-back, Marrs goes to right-back, Mills back into the middle and Garner into midfield... we're not going to have a big squad, so everybody will get regular action (except Vince, I expect).

And he said last night  that Garner is expected to be in the back four and “In winter when things get bumpy Garns can go in there (midfield) and start chewing people up.”

We'll still need cover for Garns picking up his 5th booking after 5 games... and Pidge having his neck dislocated. You cannot have just 4 defenders in the squad.
