Although we're sitting 7th in the table, and have just been walloped by Mickleover, the feeling at Leek is that this is going to be a good season, and we're set up for a real crack at promotion following two play-off exits in the last 3 years. The bookies agreed, making us pre-season favourites for the title.
We started off brilliantly, conceding just 1 goal in our first 6 games. And although the wheels appear to have come off slightly as the cup games have built up, I don't think it will take a great deal for Leek to get back to their well-organised best.
Hopefully the crowd will be over 400, I'd like to see nearer 450. Stoke not playing will help, although Vale are at home.
Final score, I think it will be tight. We've got goals in us, but taking on a Conference North defence is a very different prospect to rocking up at Goole on a Tuesday night.
