Does a decent enough job in front of the back four and is tenacious hard working midfielder although his distribution could have been better. The lad from Notts County on loan before him would be a good example of the type of player I would like to see in that position whom was much better at keeping the ball.

Not too fussed if Dowie stays or not. Is an ok player but was nothing special and was only playing at Histon before us. With a whole summer ahead, I would expect DG to find someone better, particularly if we have ambitions of promotion.

I disagree DL. Whilst Pidge signing is superb news, Newsham and confirming his intentions but they and Garner if he does commit in the will be our top earners, and if Miller stays even more so, and this isn't being negative just financially realistic it means (as happens in every club at every level) others will get less, and Dowie, especially arriving as he did from Histon will not be that expensive and I am surprised by some of the comments on the lad, because I really did think, debut apart that he's been excellent and personally I woukld really like to see him re-sign

age old debate as ever DL  ;D,  but finding someone better is the really easy bit, we could all do that, finding someone better who is prepared to travel all the way out to the 'geographical' sticks and do so for less money than he could get elsewhere en route, is a lot harder, and that has and will always be one of our biggest problems

I'm hoping for the S&H steamroller effect.  Those that were here last year got a feel for a full, successful York Street and will have loved playing for a big club at this level.  Hopefully that will help persuade some to stay and others to be recommended joining.   If they are willing to work for the common cause, it is a fantastic springboard to the higher level as we get a decent amount of coverage nationally for such a lowly league.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

Agree BG , as for the budgeting I think Den will see loan players  the way to balance the books .  in fact if he gets loanees of the qaulity we had last season it will be a means of improving the sqaud .

We don't know who will be the top earners - we can only speculate. Dowie is no Anthony Church and that is type of midfield player we need if we are going places. In fact, Dowie is not even a Danny Sleath.

I'm not saying we have to spend loads of money to get someone but Greene needs to use his scouting abilities to the maximum and search for someone that fits the bill. Let's not just make do with someone who was brought in because Histon had financial difficulties.

Danny Sleath is available, having only been invited back for pre-season by Nuneaton.

Sleath would be a great signing! Knows the club and is a fan favourite here! I also think he would fit in perfect with this squad and the way we play

Agreed.

Also interesting to read that Nuneaton article and see that Greg Pearson has been released - he was prolific for Bishop's Stortford and then scored a lot of the goals that fired Burton Albion into the league. He's 29 and would bring a bit more experience to any team. We'll need another striker to replace SWD, so wonder if he'll be worth a look?

At the end of the day, if dowie is going down the 'agent route' why should we wait around for him, yes he was an ok player but nothing special when he came in, if he doesnt want to play for boston at every chance he gets i dont want to see him here. I wouldnt bat an eyelid if he went
