Junior Konadu
« on: April 12, 2014, 10:09:27 PM »
The player I saw today was absolutely outstanding - the match sponsors got their MOTM award spot on for me. But I've heard some negative stuff about him too. Obviously as a part-timer I can't really claim to have seen that much of him so far, so what's the verdict on him generally?

He looks a real class act to me. His ability on the ball is unbelievable. Not sure how he is playing at this level to be honest..

Well, that's what I thought. He looked too good to be true to be honest. But that was based on today only...

We'll see when the going gets tough on the heavy pitches.......

Some sublime touches and her rarely wastes possession.......but he's bloody fragile.

Can't see him standing a full season of BS North football.

Yeah, that's what we were saying... Shades of Simon Armstrong in the 90s, remember how he dropped off as the pitches got heavier in winter? But for this lad right now, as the weather dries out the pitches he could be the difference in the run in if he keeps putting in those kind of performances.

he's bloody fragile.

On the contrary, he's as hard as hell. Just ask Conor Marshall's eye socket.

The guys sat behind me slagged him off all game - until he scored. These are the same fans though that moan if we pass it about and then also when he hoof it up field and play the direct game. Junior rarely gives the ball away - a something to be admired at this level.

He's managed to play at a lower level than this - built his reputation at St Neots with DG, and moved up but on the slide back down again. He's a great option to have.
I create YouTube videos (BUFC/FM/CM 01-02), and stream Football Manager on Twitch as BostonUnitedFM.

Class is the word, but there is a large portion of the Boston crowd (and most English crowds) that won't warm to him because he's not an "all action" sort of player, ie he doesn't throw himself into tackles and chase lost causes.

Armstrong often lacked the strength to even get the ball in the air when crossing.  We saw Junior play a few good longer passes today as well as his usual short passes and flicks, and he is strong enough to hold men off.

The main problem for him could be the travelling - it's a long trip to most Conference North grounds from London.

Agree with the travelling part. I think it will only be possible to keep hold of junior and rene if we are promoted to the conference national.

Same goes for Ricky at the rate he's going. Unlucky not to score today and you could tell at the end that despite the 4-1 win he was a bit pissed off, which is exactly the kind of attitude we need going into the run in.

Absolutely. If we don't make it up, I doubt we'll hang onto him. He's become a very special player indeed.

JUST a 20min. player after that he don't tick any boxes for me.

20 minutes that changed the face of the game and season yesterday.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.
