age aside, I was worried when I saw the size of the majority of their team, most near or over 6ft?
I thought we would be out muscled but that wasn't the case and the little guys won.
(how many times did their trainer come on??)

I don't know if you saw or heard their managers reaction to his player whom he took off after lying down in the penalty area when Ricky scored one of his goals. He loudly told him on which day he would see him on next week and was absolutely furious with him for not getting up. I wonder if he will play for them again.

You could argue that some experience will be useful, especially if we're in and around the mix right near the end. Players who have played big, important games could rub off on the younger lads but we have tended to err on the younger side since we dropped out of the league.

Not sure I agree with you there. Didn't we have Bastock, Canoville, Jelleyman, Austin, White, Lee, Joachim, Armstrong, Dudfield, etc., within a comparatively short space of time? That was since dropping out of the league, and you'd hardly call that line-up youthful. I think we've probably had too many older players rather than too few. But I'll agree with you that one holder head might be good for the squad.

Alan Hansen's comment originally was directed at the Manchester United side of Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, Butt, the Neville brothers and Robbie Savage, which I think it is fair to say proved more the exception rather than the rule. Since then, I tend to look at clubs like Arsenal and the amount of time they've spent trying to bring players through their youth system rather than splashing cash elsewhere. A bare trophy cabinet suggests it hasn't worked for them quite as well as they wanted it to. In the past couple of seasons Wenger has recognised that and changed his approach slightly to bring in the likes of Ozil. Generally, Alan Hansen does still have a point.
