Greene: I wouldn't stand in Miller's way
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:59:14 AM »
Dennis Greene insists he would not stand in Ricky Miller’s way if a bigger club came calling for the in-form striker.

Have copied my posting about the subject from the Ricky Miller thread as it is more relevant here.

All this talk on the media About Dennis Greene stating that the Club won't stand in his way if the right offer comes along (if any do) and it suits all parties then he would be able to leave the Club.
It seems to me a little short sighted from DG to even discuss during his Radio Lincs after match interview.
It's as if Boston Utd are inviting Clubs to come for him.
If he were to leave our aspirations for finishing in a play off position (never mind winning the league outright) would be in the balance.  I believe that attendances at home matches will increase with each match but if he left that would stop and I ask do those running Boston Utd want promotion or not this season because if Ricky Miller was allowed to leave I would suggest that it would dent our chances of promotion.

(We are playing more attractive football than when shorty and shouty were here)

Furthermore - DG didn't say similar comments after Newsham had scored his 100th goal for Boston United and at the time he was by far the highest goal scorer this season for the Club.

I hope DN & Mk show the balls to go all out to get in the Premier, if this means keeping Ricky then so be it.  Put him on a long contract, and review the situation at the end of the season. Simples :dan
I have removed the shell from my racing snail to make it go faster, if anything it's made it more sluggish.

Don,t think anything revealing about comments , if clubs decide they want to sign Ricky they will make up there mind without listening to what Den says on radio .
The player has the main say in a move if a fee is agreed , you cannot force a player to extend a contract therefore if you do not sell at the right time you finish up getting no fee .
Imagine the outburst on here if he goes free at the end of the season to Brackley or N Ferriby !!!!

If we listen to Hortin long enough he will convince us that most of City players are good enough for the Premiership  :)

its a funny ole game Saint :)
around July/August time we were questioning to rights and wrongs about bringing Ricky Miller back.
Now the talk is he should be on a long term contract!
Well done Ricky for turning it around

I was surprised that he was allowed to leave the first time.
I certainly wasn't one of those against his return.

How is this in any way newsworthy in the Grimsby Telegraph?

It's not as if Ricky is one of the players that played for Paul Hurst before, is it? In actual fact it was Scott and Hurst that released him! I'd say there's more chance of Grimsby coming in for Newsham than Miller.

Depends if Miller is under contract or not

Miller (and Newsham) are under contract.
Although Grimsby are in a play off position in Skrill Premier their top goal scorer has only scored 8 goals.
They are in need of a proven goal scorer - but I doubt that David Newton would want to do any favours for his Counterpart chairman at Grimsby.

I still say transferring Miller would send out the wrong signals to the Boston United fans - such as we don't want promotion this season.  At the moment we are scoring more goals than conceding - if Miller wasn't playing forget play offs.

Oh.. i guess we are a one man team. Well in truth if thats what we are then we don't deserve to be near the play offs
