Boston 5 Vauxhall 2
« on: January 04, 2014, 06:36:11 PM »
Well done
Thought Miller was excellent today
Thought minutes clapping for Barbera was excellent
Presentation to the Newsh for his 100 goals was a nice touch
Thought his celebration was excellent for his 101st
Thought Vauxhall were poor

Just a note to KoN
In the absence of a fitness coach should be having a team hairdresser?
Mohicans, Alice bands and Charlie's "set up"?

The three points were all that matters end of! However how many like me are getting concerned about the tactical nous of DG?

Garner up front is a truly staggering decision, and please dont say he scored so the decision was justified, it was lunacy, especially two of the best forwards in the league were playing as extra full backs some 30, 40 yards away from him and instead of closing them down high up the pitch we did so pretty much from the half way line. As it has proven so many time, it just invites pressure
When the wall jumped over their mishit free kick, for 15 mins, we were in total panic mode and against a really poor side, and in which we went from 4-5-1 (when will DG get rid of this absurd system btw, its killing us?) to 3-5-2 and then 4-4-2, no wonder so many looked confused!. How many of us were thinking of the BPA when their second went in btw? ;D

It was Harrogate when a 3-0 lead ended in a draw.
I thought Garner did well up front and it has nothing to do with him scoring.
Ross once again proved why he should be a first choice in midfield  He had a part in 4 of the goals including the penalty.

In truth, Gardner up front for the first 45 was a gem, scored one and flicked the ball down for the the first, also his hold up play was spot on, People moan about having a big forward but in truth with some of the players we have it be so hard for a big center forward to stake a claim in the team, I wouldnt want us to waist that money on a person who gonna spend half the games polishing the bench with his butt, so the idea of using someone like gardner when needed his a decent idea.

Possibly you could say he is a tactical genius?
The bench only had a few kids out of the youth team and Charlie.
Would it have been better to start with him??.
The thread is Boston 5 Vauxhall 2 so it can't be too bad!
We've also got a game on Tuesday night, so poss maybe an eye on that?

Not at all concerned about Green tactical nous as he has deployed 3/4 different formations with a certain degree of success ,  Remember Rob & Paul could not even master the 4-3-3 at Boston or Grimsby .
Agree with most Bostonshires comments re: Garner up front as a stopcap ,  good to see Forest manger use the same ploy today  ;).  Can,t blame the manager for defensive wall error .
Always possible to find faults but  a system killing us that played a part in a game in which we won and scored 5 goals ........ come on BG  I hope Mrs B is more tolerant than that with your bacon frying  :o

WELL done to all against a poor side admitted but a 5 goals and 3 points we must be pleased.
what I do no is we need the likes of MARRS and GARNER in defence at 3-2 we never looked much better than them 4 a while.

VM weren't the best yesterday but there was a moment when they were back in the game and many wouldn't have been surprised if they had got a third goal. Like most teams in this league, on their day they are capable of beating anyone and over the course of the last few weeks they have beaten Harrogate and drawn with Hednesford (and should have won).

Yam Man, if you can't remember Greg Strong then you are either too young or maybe just too old :)

Miele - no - but they are mid-table and more than capable of beating any team in this league on their day. Maybe yesterday they were a bit below par - and we raised our game. Remember we have been a bit poor and not won in the league for 5 games. If VM had won yesterday then they would have only been 2 points behind us.

DL great post. Not once did their keeper launch it long, always played from the back. Twice in the first half possibly three times could have scored. So a decent three points, people think that we are BUFC we should murder teams but its not the case.

The last third of the season will be interesting. If DG sorts his system out we will be there hopefully in the mix, as for the atmosphere we won but you just wouldnt know it.
