WILL WE FAIL TO WIN AGAIN AT HOME ON SATURDAY ?
« on: October 06, 2009, 04:46:00 PM »
WILL WE GET THREE POINTS THIS WEEK AGAINST ANOTHER SMALL CLUB ?  WITH A FAN BASE OF ONLY AROUND 200 PEOPLE ? SURLEY THEIR INCOME IS FAR BLELOW OURS ? EVEN IF WE HAVE GOT DEBTS TO CLEAR. THESE TEAMS WE ARE FAILING TO BEAT AT HOME, CANT BE ON THE SAME WAGES HAS BOSTON, WITH ONLY 2OO FANS GOING THROUGH THE TURNSTILES & THEIR ENTRY PRICES £SS BELOW BOSTONS.
SURLEY WE ARE IN A POSITION TO SIGN PLAYERS EQUAL TO SOME OF THE PLAYERS THAT HAS GIVEN US THE RUNAROUND IN PREVIOUS HOME GAMES ?

We have to think of a reason why we don't score at home ..
I would suggest inexperience and nerves at crucial  time ..
With the emphasis on  .  . INEXPERIENCE

mrdbate sounds like he has had is head in the sand with the current figures, We are probely only just maneging to match there budget let alone pay more, People need to smell the coffee as the big club big bucks is a load of bolloks nd most people no that,

Work sum figures out starting with 55k a year for the ground, Higher electric bills, water bills, higher cost to safty covering min stewards and our resident plod, they are min req.

Teams like ashton have a couple of volunteers stewars no plod, far reduced electric/water bills due to smaller attendences=less used and the average ground rent is around 3 to 4 k a year.

our gates are 1000 not 10,000

Can you press the key that is 3 up from the bottom on the left side of keyboard - the one with "Caps Lock" written on it?  Reading that has given me a migraine!!!!

Christ ! Nothing like a bit of positivity is there. It's that type of mentality from some of our fans that really frustrates me - oh were playing "small" clubs, we'll beat them. Well I hate to piss on anyones bonfire but that simply aint true. Irrespective of how big or small bufc is, underestimating our opposition is a massive problem and quite a few fans are quilty of this ignorance. Not only does this give us a bad reputation from other teams fans, it puts our own players under more stress. I don't think were in any position to judge teams alone by there playing budgets, ours as been slashed and could well be similar to most of this leagues teams. Ashton are a serious team and we've yet to beat them in this league so far. If theyre one of the team which presumably play football, this could well suit us better and give us a good chance of getting a result. If the likes of Ashton United are too "tinpot" for some of you, I surguest you go and watch another team, like it or loath it were stuck in this league for the time being.
Good luck to the lads for Saturday. Lets get our 1st home league win !

Thats a great post and should be given the credit to be read a couple of times.I am sometimes guilty of rolling my eyes on teams we are playing at times. However posts like that make me realise that there still is a Boston United and we all know who to thank for that. Its with great pride that we are still holding up over 1000 fans every week. Things are improving all the time with great efforts from those who have the club at heart....lets give thanks for that. On the field performance we will get there dont know where or when...but being positive!!!...PLEASE PLEASE ENCOURAGE ON SAT v ASHTON on Sat...current worthy table toppers

Hopefully yesterdays result will give the lads and the fans the pick me up we need to play with confidence and we will get a couple of much needed home wins over the next two games.

Lets knock down three of the stands, only let in 234 people and we will be top of the league.  ???

Erm, we'd still have the landlords to answer to and a big fat rent to pay, but if we were in our own stadium with only one stand and no rent to pay then yes, I see where your coming from, we would compete.

There is no denying the fact that we desperately need a win on Saturday. Not because of league position, its still early days, but because of the financial implications. Home support has gone from 1512 to 1471 to 1216 and 1048. If the plan is to break even this season then can we afford promotion with the extra costs involved for the next league up. I would love to see us out of this league but perhaps this year could be one of consolidation and next season one of promotion. As for winning, well I think that scoring goals is our problem. If Ashton are a good footballing side then lots of high balls could be our downfall cos they would regain possession and come at us. When we play ground football I don't think there is a team in this league any better. And just to open the door for some slagging off, I know he scored the other night but I'm not convinced he's the right man. I still think our strength is in our 'shorties' not our 'biggies'. Roll on Saturday and a win for Boston and a crowd of 1234. Merry xmas everyone.
