New Keeper, who do we fancy ?
« on: November 03, 2013, 11:52:08 AM »
Well it looks like we need someone bringing in, so who do we fancy ?  Personally for me i think we should at least take a look at Jan Budtz, who is still without a club having been at tinpot last season. He has proven form at this level and higher and is a great shot stopper.

Carlo Nash - veteran 3rd choice keeper at Norwich - for a loan period? However, I don't think Ashley Timms will be going anywhere for some time and will start in the next game for the 1st team.

No, but i wouldn't be surprised if Dennis doesn't now cut the losses and ship someone new in. There is no doubting Ash has some good qualities but is he a keeper that can get us up through consistency !

No doubting whatever happens , we need to do something. All this cannot be good for the team, we need a settled squad for our promotion push. If ash stays, and we don't get the play offs he will be blamed. Its a tough one,  but we cannot keep being inconsistent between the sticks.

Cocked up in the FA Cup, cocked up with the terrible position he took for the free kick last week, and most certainly cocked up for two goals Saturday, on top of that his tantrums haven't done him any favours either. However in between all that the lad has played consistently well and its allright everyone saying get rid, but as he's on contract, and unless DG can offload him or get a club to pay his wages clubs like Boston cant afford to 'get rid', its simply not that easy.
On top of that, and ignoring his cock ups, (did anyway chastise in the same way the mega consistent Garner for his equally big gaff for the second by the way) to take him off in such inglorious fashion will have done nothing but more pressure on his dwindling confidence, and against all opinions on here I found the decision very strange, especially if he is to stay

No need to get rid. The manager just needs to manage him in the way he sees fit. If I was having a bad few weeks in the office I wouldn't expect my boss to sack me. We win and lose as a team. As mentioned above, Garner cocked up for the second but I don't see people asking for him to be sent back to Cambridge.

To be fair I think many fans would be calling for Garner to be sent back to Cambridge if he made mistakes of the same magnitude as Timms has in recent games

There is a huge irony in football isn't there in as much as forwards can miss loads of sitters, but if they score the winner all is forgotten because as we always knew the forward is just a natural finisher.
Midfield players can give the ball away all afternoon but if they lay on the pass for that winner above supporters, fickle as we all are go home eulogising about their vision
Defenders can fall over, present chances galore to the opposition and on a plate, miss headers get nutmugged the lot, but if they clear one off the line in the last minute they become as heroic as Terry Butcher
Keepers cock up and before tea is served at full time, Wimpey have already been comissioned to build the gallows, who was it that said you have to be mad to be a keeper? ;D

Well said BG, all this calling for Ashley to be released is a load of twaddle, for all his recent mistakes, he's still the best keeper we've had for the last couple of seasons.

I'm Hedgeing my bets on Timms staying. If his errors were deliberate then get rid of him but if they were genuine errors then give him more time but he should be made aware that his chances will run out.
