Seems like a decent signing and surely should be quality at our level after making the bench in the premier league. Can only assume conor is struggling with injury??

Could also add fuel to the fire that DG intends on changing tact and play, 4-4-2 or while Sensara is suspended 3-5-2 either of those would be good, and as you say you simply cant be on the bench in the premiership unless at this level you are really decent

Exciting this one isn't it?

Good to be able to discuss alternative formations  4-4-2     3-5-2     4-3-3 .  with previous managers we could only play  a 4-4-2 . with a 6-3" striker .

Is it down to a better manager or better players or both ?

Yeah certainly will give us extra options quid say he may fill in on right hand side in similar formation as last week cos think conor is struggling with injury? Can't see Peter bore returning after this signing?

Cramlington-born defender Liam has been with Sunderland since the age of 12.
The combative right-back started his fledgling career with Cramlington Juniors before being snapped up by the Black Cats.
Along with John Egan, Liam was made joint captain of the youth team by coach Kevin Ball for 2010-11.
He played 29 games as the young Cats secured the league title, adding a further nine appearances for the reserves.
Liam joined the club's development squad as a professional ahead of the 2011-12 season and started a team-high 19 games, adding a further three appearances as a substitute.
The youngster continued to impress for the development squad in the 2012-13 campaign, playing 20 times before he was called up to first-team match day squads for the games against Everton, Stoke, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
He also finished the 2012-13 season as the development squad's captain.

I doubt he has a scouting network as such. Should think he'll go to many midweek games. And more importantly know the right people so he finds out who's available

DG is a friend of Martin O'Neil who was manager of Sunderland until 30th March this year.  Who better to know all about the young players at the club?
