Personally I think Greene's performance in his (roughly) six month period at the club has been flawless. From his very first game he got the players playing the game the right way with an instant change in results winning our first two games 4-0 and 3-0. Both Lee and Drury bought in (mostly Drury) poor players from lower down the system who were quite clearly not up to it at this level e.g Watt, Lister etc. As soon as the season finished Greene got rid of the UCL standard players Drury bought in and kept the better players Lee bought in Ross, Milnes, Marshall, SWD and our long serving goal machine Newsham. Whilst most managers were sunning it up in the med as soon as the season was finished Greene got about his business early and got the WHOLE squad on board before pre season started. Greene recognised the issues within the team the previous season; a poor keeper, missing in service back four and no holding midfielder and spent the majority of his remaining budget on quality in those areas. Mills didn't work out as the holding midfielder so he coached Marshall who now does that job better than anyone since Church left. Remember all the times Lee, Drury and even Scott and Hurst moaned about lack of funds? Greene is producing better results on no more money the previous two managers. Back to the original topic getting the right player in is important and a bad ego could ruin team morale and the 'buzz' the lads seem to have at the moment.
