For all his many faults one thing you could always say about Evans was he'd have the majority of his team signed up by the end of May and would only add a couple in pre season.

And then another twenty or so during the season.

Yes , and on reflection N/F will recall some of these early signings were still on the payroll 2/3 years after getting the boot .

For what its worth many CN have less players signed on than us .

Yeah, but come on. If you want quality like Kenny Cramman, Tim Wooding and Simon Livett then you've got to be prepared to pay for it.

Patience is what is needed. The better players will be holding out for clubs until later in pre season. As fans we all want to see the squad put together quickly but with us working to a realistic budget that is not always possible. It maybe a good time to play a much changed Stockport and Telford teams. We must be positive and I'm sure the lads will be up for the games.

Good Post as we would all be moaning if Mr Greene signed up a bunch of Poor players in a rush just to fill the team up , but I do feel the next signings will be crucial.

Yeah that's right no point in just signing players for the sake of it. If we get these last signings right we could suprise a few. That's why we need to be patient and let DG get it right.

LEt's hope the performance and tactics are as positive  at Edgely as they were at Bury (v FC UTD ) 4 years ago .
Anything less would be a disappoinment  ..

True. It is funny how we seem to have had a lot of trips to Manchester on the opening day of a season - FC United as you say, Droylsden last season and now Stockport. We hardly ever seem to play at home on the opening day!

We can't afford to be paying a full squad all the way through the close season.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

Trinity had one player ( Mark Jones) on contract from last season. The others have signed contracts for the coming season. (13 in total, including Stamp and R.Williams, who are part of the coaching team, as well as playing)
